❤️ MY FIRST 24 HOURS OF SOBRIETY — THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE ❤️
Today, I am taking a step toward changing my life, and I want to share this journey honestly with my friends, family, followers, and everyone who has been a part of my life in some way.
Today marks my first 24 hours completely sober from alcohol. 🙏🏽❤️
This decision is about more than giving up alcohol. It's about changing my lifestyle, taking better care of myself, healing, and becoming the best version of myself that I can be.
I've been through painful experiences in my life, including abuse, the loss of my siblings, and the heartache of missing my children. Sometimes, when the day ends and everything becomes quiet, those memories and feelings replay in my mind. It can be difficult to relax, fall asleep, and find peace.
For a long time, I used alcohol to quiet those thoughts and help me fall asleep. But I have started to recognize that I need to find healthier ways to cope with my pain and take care of myself.
I spend much of my day working on my wood artwork, sometimes from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. My business, Giggli Creations By Design, means so much to me. Creating art gives me purpose, allows me to express myself, and gives me something positive to work toward.
But I want to be able to give my creativity, my business, and my future the attention they deserve. I don't want painful memories or unhealthy habits to continue taking away from my focus, my peace, or my potential.
I want to give myself a real chance to heal, grow, create, and succeed.
As I begin this new chapter, I plan to make changes to my daily routine and the things I surround myself with. I want to listen to more classical music, jazz, and country music. 🎶 I want to find peaceful ways to end my days, develop healthier habits, take care of my mind and body, and learn how to face difficult feelings without turning to alcohol.
I know this journey will take patience, commitment, and work. I am not expecting to change everything overnight. I am learning that I have to take it ONE DAY AT A TIME.
I am also asking my friends, family, followers, and anyone who sees me out in the community to please hold me accountable. Check on me. Encourage me. Remind me of the commitment I am making to myself. If you see me working toward positive changes, encourage me to keep going.
Please be patient with me, too. I am learning, growing, and finding new ways to deal with things that have hurt me for a long time. I don't expect anyone to have all the answers, and I don't expect myself to have everything figured out today.
I am sharing this because I want to be accountable, and because I know that sometimes saying something out loud is the first step toward making a real change.
I want to build my business. I want to protect my creativity. I want to make beautiful things with my hands and continue sharing my gifts with the world. Most importantly, I want to give myself the opportunity to live a healthier, more peaceful, and more fulfilling life.
I am not defined by the things that have happened to me. I am still here, I am still creating, and I am still working toward a better future. ❤️
Today, I have completed 24 hours. Tomorrow, I will focus on the next 24.
To everyone who chooses to encourage me, support me, and walk alongside me on this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness and patience mean more than you know.
This is my journey. This is my commitment. This is my new beginning.
🙏🏽❤️ ONE DAY AT A TIME. ONE STEP AT A TIME. ONE NEW CHAPTER AT A TIME.
