4 years.
It’s only been 4 years.
I have to stop and remind myself of that. When I started designing, I set the bar so high for myself. Like really high, like looking up and comparing my work to other designers that had 15, 20 years more experience than me.
That’s simultaneously bad and good. Do not recommend.
Bad because I could not create on that level then, not even close.
Good because it pushed me to not stop. For 4 years.
4 years of nonstop creative exploration.
4 years of saying yes to everything and everyone. Again, do not recommend.
4 years of creative breakthroughs and breakdowns.
And 4 years of continuously moving that bar up to the next level, just always slightly out of my reach. Never acknowledging how far I’ve come.

But for this moment I’m going to celebrate it, I’m going to say the thing I’ve been scared to say.

I did this and it is good.

Spring’s emergence

Spring comes with dots of flowers in the greening up of leaves, slowly at first and then in a rush of beauty.

Sharing with full transparency that I still don’t love this one, but it grew on me for the 2 days that it occupied a large portion of the studio.
I left it there to learn from it, moving things around with my mind’s eye and refining how I would go about it differently for future projects.

It’s never lost on me how absolutely lucky I am to have the opportunity to work amongst some of the best there is in this community. While I didn’t attend the WIPA gala, it was such a privilege to work alongside the floral team and to help the magic unfold.

What an incredible experience that awaited the guests. The attention to every single aspect was so thorough, from the aromas, the sounds, the tastes. From how the guests were moved throughout the space to the secret corners. From dark to dawn, they were fully immersed.

Sometimes I wonder how I actually got here and am always so thankful to be trusted with someone’s vision.
