“Event Horizon” | 18.5” x 16.25”
The event horizon is the theoretical, invisible boundary surrounding a black hole, often termed the “point of no return” - beyond which the gravitational pull is so intense that nothing, not even light, can escape.
This piece is a trip. If you didn’t know, black glass is actually purple. It’s deeply pigmented to achieve the black color, but in this piece you can see a purple haze where it meets the opal white line. This also creates some slight transparency. When looking through the horizon line, objects behind the piece look morphed and distorted. At the same time, the black glass reflects a mirror of what is in front of it. Does any of that make sense? 👁️👄👁️
Anywho, I love this piece. See it in person May 1!!
(Thank you, Jordan, for hearing my vision and creating this blown glass wonder for me in the hot shop 🌀)
