Long before glass came into my life, photography was my preferred art form. I was always carrying around a camera (or two) and spent most of my high school years in the darkroom. There’s something quite magical about watching your image come to life in a pool of developer. My love for this medium eventually lead to two years of college as a photography major (until I found glass - which of course changed everything).
Those years behind the lens became very useful when I started to work with glass and needed to document my work. I found myself hyper-aware of lighting and composition and making sure that the glass was singing as best as it could on a digital screen.
My solo exhibition, “STARLIGHT”, gave me the opportunity to revisit photography as an art form. Pictured are refractions from the stained glass works created for the show, carefully photographed in a controlled environment and then slightly edited in post. Inspiration for the images comes from photographs capture by the Hubble Space Telescope (which, fun fact, my uncle helped build!)
It was a true delight to add these photographs into the show. A total of six images were printed and framed, three of which found homes during the show’s run.
