Glossy tile against warm wood. Worn leather beside polished brass. Velvet, woven textiles, carved antiques, smooth stone.

Throughout Rittenhouse, Collected, texture does as much work as color. Materials with different ages, finishes and origins are layered together, giving a once-standard condo a sense of depth and history.

Because a room doesn’t just need to look interesting. It should feel interesting, too.

Deep oxblood. Olive velvet. Warm wood. Aged brass.

In our Rittenhouse, Collected project, a deep oxblood wall, olive velvet chairs, sculptural brass lighting and oversized art transform the dining area into its own intimate destination.

In an open-plan apartment, sometimes all it takes is a shift in color to create the feeling of another room - without adding a single wall.

Rich and earthy, but never heavy. And this time of year, it feels especially right!

Excited to show a new project: Rittenhouse, Collected.

Our clients came to this Rittenhouse condo with an eclectic collection shaped by years of travel - art, antiques, objects and pieces with stories to tell. Our job was to create a home where all of it could belong.

Against the backdrop of a fairly run-of-the-mill city condo, we layered rich color, warm woods, sculptural lighting and furnishings from different eras, allowing their collection to give the space its character.

The result is worldly, personal and anything but expected—a home that feels collected over a lifetime rather than designed all at once.

A dream kitchen shouldn’t be someone else’s dream kitchen.

For this Narberth home, we started by looking at how our client actually lives: what stays on the counter, where she drinks her morning coffee, what she reaches for every day, how she cooks, and what deserves to be displayed.

From there came a kitchen that feels entirely her own: buttery yellow cabinetry, a blue checkerboard floor, 1930s-inspired details, a Dutch door made from the home’s existing door, and storage designed around real life rather than simply filling every available wall.

The result is colorful, functional, and deeply personal.

We’re thrilled to see the project featured in Realtor.com’s One-Room Renos series, where Val talks through the decisions, details, budget, and thinking behind the transformation.

When Frank + Genny found this Philly home, the natural light and rooftop views were irresistible, but the layout? Not so much.
Challenge: A powder room opening right into the living room and a pantry lit like a convenience store.
Solution: We reoriented the powder room and added a connecting hallway, creating a clean sightline from kitchen window to French doors.

From dated and developer-grade to thoughtful, functional, and full of light.

One small reconfiguration, a huge transformation.

Some houses ask for something new. Others ask you to make it feel like it’s always been there.

For this weekend retreat, we leaned into the latter: an antique table in place of a traditional kitchen island, long stretches of cabinetry that leave room for art, salvaged encaustic tile underfoot, and a completely new fireplace designed to feel original to the gatehouse.

Oversized thistles from Timorous Beasties bring a slightly wild, almost medieval quality to the walls, while sable brown trim, rusty red window mullions, worn woods, and warm natural textures make the whole house feel particularly at home in fall.

A little cottage, a little collected, a little untamed, and designed to get better with age.

A mirror placed across from a window is one of those rare design gestures that is both practical and quietly magical. It gives the room another source of light, another glimpse of sky, another sense of depth.

In a smaller space, this can make all the difference. We are generally less interested in illusion for illusion’s sake, but when something as simple as a mirror can make a room feel brighter, more open, and more alive to its surroundings, we’ll happily take it.
