If I were redesigning my home in 2026, I’d start with color, and lots of it 🤍

I’m talking kitchen cabinets in rich olive and handmade tiles with all their little imperfections for the backsplash, a mix of natural materials and warm metals, and a few arches where you would normally expect a plain rectangular opening. Small, intentional moves that make a home feel authentic and homey.

On a recent project we just wrapped, the client wanted real color, so for the kitchen we went with this gorgeous green and even pulled it into the lighting. It was unexpected, but it tied all the colors together and made the design feel completely true to their personality and who they are.

Before any project truly begins, we start right here in our Philadelphia studio, surrounded by tile and fabric and a hundred little material samples 🤍

We start pulling finishes and layering, a pop of purple here, a soft mint and teal there, texture on texture, until a room slowly comes to life before a single thing is ever built. It all begins with space plans and a full presentation for the client, but the real magic happens the moment they walk into the studio and get to touch everything. Seeing the material in a photo is one thing. Running your hand over the tile you are about to live with is a completely different feeling, and that is when it all becomes real!

I was asked for advice on redoing a home so here it is… step away from the all gray and beige! There are so many beautiful colors out there and a few soft pastels or greens can warm up a space in the best way.

We have to talk about this one because it might be one of our favorite homes we have ever done 🤍

Take the solarium, where the light comes pouring through those big arched windows and the bar is right there waiting. You can already picture the kind of party that happens in this space 🎉

The dining room is a totally different mood wrapped in hand-painted navy blooms under a silver-leafed ceiling… the kind of space that makes people go quiet for a second when they first see it. The wine cellar (in love with this!) is moody and intimate in the best way, a room you relax into for a long evening. The primary bedroom stays modern and chic, while the primary bath feels like a little escape with all that warm wood cabinetry and a gorgeous marble double vanity.

None of these rooms match, and that’s exactly what we love about it. Which room would you never want to leave? ✨

Another trip around the sun. And honestly? This one felt like it counted.

I’m so grateful for the team behind MPD who shows up every single day with talent and care, for the trade partners who make our vision possible, and for the clients who trust us with the spaces where their lives actually happen. You are why this work matters.

The projects on our boards right now have me genuinely excited for what’s ahead. Interior design is a wild business. No two projects, no two clients, no two days are ever the same. It keeps you humble, it keeps you growing, and if you’re lucky, it keeps you doing what you love.

I’m the lucky one.
