September means Oktoberfest season! 🇩🇪🍂

This month, I thought it would be fun to share a few of our family’s favorite German recipes — the kind that bring back memories of gathering around the table, enjoying hearty food, and celebrating tradition.

Today’s recipe is Sauerbraten, a classic German pot roast that marinates for several days before slow-cooking until tender. The sauce gets its signature sweet-and-sour flavor from brown sugar and crushed gingersnaps.

Today I’m beginning something new with Grandma’s Christmas House — a weekly Sunday devotional as we count down to Christmas. 🎄✨

Christmas preparation is often about decorating, shopping, baking, and planning, but I also want this season to be about preparing our hearts for the Lord.

This week’s theme is “Prepare Your Heart,” based on Mark 1:3:

“Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.”

My hope is that each Sunday we can slow down for a few moments, reflect on Scripture, and intentionally make room for Christ as Christmas draws closer.
