I decided to use some of the yarn I had on hand to try something new and this was my first time at a free hand heart blanket. Obviously it’s not perfect and I’ll be fixing my mistakes on the next blanket I do. Alright y’all I want to share with you why I chose the name I did for the chunky knit blankets.

Here it’s goes…

When I was in high school I first saw the chunky knit blankets and my mom has always been super crafty so I asked her if she could make me one. She got all the supplies and everything to try and make one for me but it ended up not being very possible with her hands due the lupus.

Since she passed I’ve been trying to think about how I could honor her memory and these chunky knit blankets kept popping up. Well then I got the idea to try and make them and then once I made one I got another idea that after I get this up off the ground I could even donate blankets to cancer treatment centers for patients going through chemo, radiation, and dialysis in honor of my mom. Hence the name Nana Nell’s Knitting Co. Nana Nell is what my boys would have called her because that’s what she wanted.

This company helps me honor my mom and help bring a little comfort to anyone who I can make blankets for. My mom was an amazing mom and woman her spirit deserves to live on and I believe I can do that with this business. 🤍
