SRA Project Spotlight: Lakefront @ Scottsdale - Ground Breaking Ceremony.
SRA 360 and a crowd of eager Scottsdale residents, city officials, and business owners gathered between 9:30 and 11 a.m. to witness the official groundbreaking ceremony for The Lakefront at Scottsdale, a landmark $70 million redevelopment project by Diversified Partners.
Walt Brown Jr., the CEO of Diversified Partners and the visionary behind the project, took to the podium. "It's kind of been this crown jewel that no one had access to because it was a corporate office," Brown remarked, gesturing toward the 100,000-square-foot waterfront property. "We think it's putting the heartbeat in the heart of Scottsdale."
The energy escalated as the developer formally announced the upscale dining and beverage concepts that would anchor the new, highly walkable destination:
SUSHISAMBA, bringing its internationally acclaimed energy and fusion cuisine to Arizona for the very first time.
V Modern Italian, featuring expansive lakefront patio spaces designed for al fresco evenings.
La La Land Kind Cafe, the famously organic, purpose-driven coffee concept.
Frost Gelato, offering the perfect sweet stop for families strolling along the water.
In the crowd, local residents couldn’t hide their enthusiasm. Sherri Mayhew, a McCormick Ranch resident living directly across the street, shared her excitement about the neighborhood's evolution: "It's going to be so exciting to just walk across the street and have coffee, restaurants and then look at the view to Camelback Mountain." Future phases promise to bring boutique retail, a small marina with Duffy boat rentals, and high-end Class A office spaces to further elevate the resort-style experience.
Instead of the traditional ceremonial shovels pushing into a mound of dirt, this groundbreaking embraced a more dynamic approach to transformation. The event concluded to the cheers of the attendees as teams began the partial demolition of the dated 1970s interior, marking the immediate start of construction.
With contractor A.R. Mays Construction already mobilizing on-site, the countdown has officially begun. The first phase of The Lakefront at Scottsdale is targeted to open its doors to the public by late fall 2027, transforming a restricted corporate relic into the vibrant, welcoming heart of the community.
