𝘒𝘰𝘻𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳, 𝘎𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳, 𝘸𝘪𝘳𝘦 (2024)

In my first experiment with Ikebana—the Japanese art of flower arranging dating back to the sixth century—I created and composed my own paper blooms. Shortly after finishing the arrangement, I snapped a photo and dropped the piece while moving it onto a shelf. My paper cyclamen now exists only as a memory.

It’s no longer for sale, but perhaps that’s what it wanted all along—a quiet reminder that even handmade permanence is still only a pause in time. The pause itself becomes a kind of refuge, which is the ultimate lesson to receive of Ikebana. 💜
