Belisarius — The Master of Stratagems
Every Gourdian is a chess piece upon the great game board of Belisarius. He is the prime mover when it comes to defending the sanctity of the patch—and its collection of unruly, eccentric, and occasionally neurotic inhabitants.
Ozymandias and Balthasar do not always agree with his methods. In fact, they frequently don’t. But every Gourdian agrees with his results.
Just when the patch seems doomed, when every escape has been cut off and overwhelming odds have finally cornered our intrepid Gourdians, Belisarius quietly moves the final piece into place—revealing a plan that had been unfolding since long before anyone else even realized there was a problem.
Aloof, calculating, and generally preferring not to be bothered—especially by Phrike and Wyll—Belisarius nevertheless cares deeply for his fellow Gourdians. He will devote every ounce of his considerable intellect to keeping the patch safe.
