Sunday Evening Thoughts

Has anyone else noticed how quickly summer days fill up?

Between home repairs, outdoor projects, yard work, and everyday life, my crafting has slowed down a little lately. Some seasons are for creating, and some seasons are for taking care of all those things we’ve been putting off.

The funny thing is, even when I’m not actively crafting, I’m still collecting ideas and inspiration everywhere I go. A pretty porch, an old piece of furniture, a country road, a thrift store treasure—it’s amazing where inspiration can be found.

Life has a way of slowing us down sometimes, but maybe that’s not always a bad thing. Sometimes we need those seasons to catch up, recharge, and enjoy the simple things right in front of us.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and is ready for a new week ahead.

Maybe it’s age… maybe it’s nostalgia… but I've been noticing the little things more.

Old glass dishes.
Worn wood.
Faded florals.
Porch swings.
Handwritten recipes.
Quiet evenings.

But maybe it’s more than that.

Maybe it’s missing the simple, safe, loving feeling of family, neighbors, and community that once made life feel sweeter and softer somehow.

The days when you could walk miles up the road just for fun, get thirsty, stop at someone’s house for a glass of water, and be greeted with warmth, laughter, and gracious kindness.

The times when people left their doors unlocked because life felt that safe.

The slow porch conversations that seemed to last forever.
Holiday baking with the whole family crowded into the kitchen.
The quiet days that somehow felt fuller than all the rushing we do now.

Maybe that’s why I find myself drawn more and more to old stoneware bowls, vintage bakeware, worn furniture, soft colors, and little pieces from the past and not just to look at, but to use.

Not just because they’re beautiful… but because they remind me of warmth, comfort, family, and memories that mattered. Or maybe it’s just trying to hold onto what once felt safe and comforting in a world that often feels so hurried and disconnected now.

Can you ever truly get back what once was?

Probably not, because can you really go back? But maybe we can revive and relive a version of it; try bringing back little pieces of it and just hold on to those precioius loving memories that we all took for granted growing up.

“There are some phone numbers we never really forget.

The ones tied to childhood homes… grandparents… late night talks… kitchen wall phones… and the voices connected to them.

Recently, I received notice that my longtime landline would no longer be available. The hard part was… it wasn’t just a number. It was the number from my childhood home. My parents’ number. The number I eventually inherited and held onto for years.

People suggested simply transferring everything over to my cell phone number, but that wasn’t really possible either. I’ve had that number for so long too, and in today’s world, everything technological is tied to it.

It made me realize how strangely emotional something as simple as a phone number can become.

But progress happens… and sometimes there are pieces of the past we simply can’t hold onto forever.

So I’ve been quietly and slowly pondering ways to preserve not just the number… but the memories tied to it too. 🤍

And somewhere in those thoughts, a meaningful little idea is beginning to take shape. When it’s finished, I’ll share it here.

I truly had NO idea what this thing was when I found it thrifting a few weeks ago 😂

For a brief moment, I was fully convinced I may have accidentally brought home a chamber pot 😳

Thankfully, Jack (my ChatGPT sidekick 😂) informed me this little mystery piece is actually an ash bucket!

Now I’m trying to decide how I want to repurpose it for my booth while still keeping all that vintage character and charm intact.

So now I’m curious…

This little collection started with just one…

The very first wall pocket I made was pretty simple—just some burlap, a little floral, and an idea I couldn’t get out of my head.But the more I played around with it… the more it grew.

I started layering the bows…softening the colors…adding more greenery and letting it get a little fuller…and just shaping each one until it had that soft, slightly aged feel I love so much.And before I knew it, I had a whole collection.
