The celebration starts here! Before the main kickoff event, we’re warming up the brain cells and the Pride spirit. Join the sensational Harmony Valentine as she takes the mic for a night of rapid-fire questions and unapologetic q***r joy. We’re setting the tone for the month at the West End Emporium with a trivia night designed to challenge your brain and build community.

Happy Pride from West End Pittsboro! 🏳️‍🌈

As we celebrate our hard-won freedoms this month through events celebrating our community’s creativity, passion, and unity we encourage everyone to take time to reflect on the depths of q***r history, what it has taken to get where we are, and where progress is still waiting.

We point beyond the corporate rainbows and generic statements to urge a peering beyond the surface into why organization and the community is necessary to begin with. In a time when the closet we thought we had escaped from threatens to swallow back that which was liberated, critical remembering may be the most powerful tool we have. Around the world, and in our own communities people are still grasping for acceptance and love. The q***r community exists as a beacon that their striving will not be in vain.

Our community represents the promise that one of the most basic human needs, being seen and honored, just as we are, is ubiquitous. That love is love and a safe life in community is a most precious resource for human beings. All are worthy of this love and dignity. That’s what Pride represents. That’s why we must be visible. That’s the point of the rainbows and the parades. To show that individual drowning in fear, that a lifeline is waiting.

Our community encompasses everyone who believes in the fundamentals of love and dignity. It doesn’t require anything of your identity. So don’t be quiet. Don’t be afraid to repost things and talk loud in public spaces. Be joyous and be uncompromising in it. Our joy is a celebration of something fundamental. Not political.

We celebrate this Pride month and all the year with uncompromising joy in our hearts and ancestral rage in our bellies. Unity through community. ALL are welcome. HAPPY PRIDE!!! 🏳️‍🌈🫶🏼
