After Dark Illustrations

After Dark Illustrations After Dark is my series of illustrations that tell stories about a fictitious town. I also have an Etsy that sells these illustrations on products.

These illustrations show how beautiful small towns can appear at night, emphasizing on lights in the dark. My name is Dan Senneway, and I consider my self a digital illustrator, for now this is a page dedicated to my work as a college student inartistic to " the real world", Every thing on here is for sale including the animations. If you find something you like message me and will talk, each illustration will have a number and title to it so if your interested just send me either or!

The original three Kennywood drawings.
The Racer was the first, followed by the Lost Kennywood arch. I honestly wasn’t planning on doing too many more after that, but everyone kept asking for the Jack Rabbit. So, of course, I had to add it to the collection—even if it came a few years later.
Who knew I was going to spend the next ten years drawing Kennywood?
Looking back at these now makes me wonder if it might be time to retire some of the older prints and revisit the coasters from scratch—new angles, new colors, and the style I’ve developed over the years.
What do you think? Should I keep the originals around, or is it time to redraw Kennywood?

I had just gotten home from riding bikes with my friends and rolled my bike into the garage. I grabbed the last cold can of pop from the downstairs fridge and sat out on the back patio.

A few lightning bugs still floated in and out of view, scattered across the yard. It wasn’t that long ago that the backyard seemed full of them, blinking above the grass and along the tree line.

They danced around us while we played kickball and Ghost in the Graveyard. They followed us through the yard and seemed to light the way home whenever we stayed out a little too late.

Now there were only a handful left, blinking low in the grass in a yard that had been full of noise and laughter all summer. I wished I could blink and bring it all back—the brighter grass, the warm nights, the bikes thrown in the driveway, and our book bags shoved into the back of the closet instead of being pulled out again.

I knew that once I went inside and turned my back on those last few lightning bugs, summer would feel officially over.

So I stayed out there a little longer, finishing my pop and watching the yard grow darker, holding onto one last quiet piece of summer before going inside.

There were fewer lightning bugs by the end of August. We still searched the yard for them, but the grass no longer seemed filled with tiny stars. Their disappearance always seemed to happen around the same time the school calendar appeared on the refrigerator.

By late August, the sun disappeared noticeably earlier. Our baseball games ended before anyone wanted them to because we could no longer see the ball. The darkness felt like the calendar reminding us that our time was almost up.

We rode through every street in town the night before school began. There was no destination, only the feeling that we should keep moving while we still could. Eventually, everyone turned toward their own houses, and summer ended one driveway at a time.

We stayed outside later than usual because school started Monday. No one said that was why, but everyone seemed reluctant to go home. When the porch lights came on, we sat on the curb a little longer anyway.
