Completed bookshelf and cabinet. Maple and walnut; always one of my favorite combinations. This piece started in my shed and finished in the shop. It represents a return to full scale furniture making for me and I plan to do a lot more of this.

The piece employs plenty of traditional joinery and just a couple of screws for the magnetic door catches: through dovetails, half laps, through mortises, sliding dovetails, lots of dados including a half dovetailed dado to lock the walnut pulls into place.

Big thank you to and for the opportunity to build this piece.

Some photos of the shop in its current state. Things are coming along quickly now as I organize and optimize. I still have a very long list which I have put in my phone such that I can erase the tasks as I go.

At the same time I am trying to prep some pieces for upcoming shows. More details to follow.

I am accepting commissions at the point and am still booking for the end of this year. If you have a piece in mind, big or small, please reach out! I will be offering discounted rates and priority to commission furniture pieces.

I’ve been really busy with this, my day job and life. A little uncentered and may not have been savoring this pivotal moment fully. I want to thank everybody that has helped me to get this point. Every person who has and continues to be a client, the friends, family, and fellow woodworkers who have offered help and support over the years. Everything you do means more than you know.

One of the more rewarding aspects of repeat customers is getting to see your work lived in.

I built this dry bar in 2019. It sits on the double chimney wall of an over 159 year old home in Sewickley, PA. The job began with an exploratory demolition to see what kind of space was there. Initially it was about a 16” wide by 16” deep cubby. Removing the drywall, and about 4 layers of plaster was an experience in building science time travel.

The new drywall was mounted to the soft, original site fired bricks. From that finished opening we designed the cabinets, built the butcher block top and worked out style. I love this project because it was a transformation, rather than an “update”. The space used compromised nothing. All gain and a free hand to design with.

Seeing a project years later makes it feel alive. Knowing the pieces have a life, a purpose, a family. That is what matters.

Some detail photos of the bookshelf before it was packaged for delivery. It is now patiently waiting to reach its forever home. Delivery in the coming weeks and proper photos to follow. I cannot overstate how satisfying commissions like these can be to the artistic process.

Well, this is technically the first piece completed in the new shop! While I don’t craft stained glass, I’m always happy to frame it in some beautiful 6/4 White Oak! Finished in abrasive wax, polished to only a small lustre. You get lovely control with their products.

As you can see the shop is still a work in progress! But this one project will be completed before the shop. Some updates and the first look at it all as it will sit (although there is some fitting of the doors and drawers to be done yet before finishing. I’m really pleased with design of the piece.

It’s been an odd and sometimes frustrating experience as I try to balance the build out of the shop with a few active projects. It’s left me with little to post in a time where social media seems all important. In reality it’s been nice to just get to work and allowed me a little time to do some behind the scenes work on the business. I’m looking forward to a very exciting 2026 and can’t wait to share with you all!

Proper photos to come upon completion.

Taking a break from the shop build to finish up the bookshelf. Only finally sanding and finish remain. Had a good time fitting the made for purpose walnut pulls. Angularity in the doors and drawers will offset the full round over structure of the piece.

I havent had much progress to show recently as I’m getting into the details of tool setup, tables etc. There is so so much more soon to come. I am totally exhausted and excited and motivated as I have ever been.
