Every spring I make a new bench to our front porch. Think this is number five. Unlike the last one where the top was the focus, this time I spent most of my time on the base/legs. Made completely from two cherry slabs, one for the top, one to make all the pieces go the legs. Finished with a hard wax oil that I hope will withstand some of the elements.
I’ll post soon some of the steps along the way.

Bit of personal news…after 22 years (!) wonderful years in Newtown, I’m excited to begin a new chapter as a Technology Education teacher at the Middle School of Plainville.

Leaving a community that has meant so much to me is not easy. Nearly my entire professional career has been built in Newtown so it will be bitter sweet leaving. I’m incredibly grateful for the students, families, colleagues, and friends who have been part of this journey.

At the same time, I’m eager for this new challenge and the opportunity to inspire students with some of the skills I’ve acquired outside the classroom the past several years.

Thank you, Newtown, for 22 amazing years - looking forward to an exciting new challenge in Plainville!
