Joy - what is it? Where can I find it?
For the longest time I struggled to find joy in the insignificant, which ultimately led me to feeling like I needed something substantial just to feel it. This led to me hating the mundane, the typical routine of life, and just the repetitive "day in day out" activities.
And I'm by no means an expert, but one thing I can share is that when I stopped searching outward for people or things outside of the mundane to bring me joy, I truly felt a deeper appreciation for what's right in front of me.
Some might call it "romanticizing" but when I stopped and purposely took note of the things around me like a silly planter, a perfectly scented candle, an air plant that looks like the flower from Tangled (yes - Disney reference), a cozy reading corner with some of my favorite books, I started to notice all the simple joys. And truthfully I've felt more fulfilled and more joy than ever before.
So if you're struggling to find your joy, I challenge you - look around and find even one thing in your space that brings you joy or simply puts a smile on your face. Cause I'll tell you what friends, once you find joy in the simple things, all that "extra" stuff doesn't seem as necessary.
If you can - tell me one of your simple joys in the comments below ππΌ
I wish you well friends - go find your joy β€οΈ
