Pocatello Electric

Pocatello Electric Pocatello Electric is East Idaho's Favorite Major Home Appliance Store and the oldest in Idaho. ISJ R He sold the business to Ed Hall in the early 1930's.

The first owner was Max Schaefer, who opened the store in 1902. An early history of the store notes that the store sold radios, appliances, "gave free air and water at the curbs"--water for the horses and air for the automoble tires. After World War II, Al Vigliaturo, a Navy veteran, went to work for Hall and in 1965, the two drew up a contract which allowed Vligliaturo to buy the business. In 19

73, Vigliaturo was the sole owner. At one point, Pocatello Electric not only specialized in electrical service work, but carried auto supplies and accessories, power machines and chandliers. Mike Vigliaturo, who did his own stint in the Navy and earned a bachelor's degree at Idaho State University in Business Management and Organization and Marketing, worked for his dad for 15 years before buying the business from him in 1989. When the Mike Vigliaturo took over the business, he implemented some changes that has helped turn a $1 million-a-year retail business into a successful $2 million-a-year business, with fewer employees and more buying power. Pocatello Electric is a member of one of the largest buying groups allowing them to buy at discounted prices that they in turn pass on to their loyal customers. Today’s is a view from east to west on Center street! Another view of the Touraine Hotel as well as some other fascinating things - a Ford store! The Louvre Cafe! A bookstore and a grocery! And what looks to be a hard pack dirt road with some early cars and trucks! If time travel was a reality we would love to explore this stretch of street. Beautiful.
