Beautiful floors were only part of the goal. The real challenge was what you could hear with every step.

This Coconut Grove home is over 80 years old, and the original hardwood floors had developed significant squeaking and movement throughout the house.

To properly address the problem, the existing flooring had to be removed so we could mitigate the sound before installing the new Brazilian Chestnut, also known as Tsukupira.

The project also included custom-fabricated bullnoses, sanding, and finishing to create a cohesive look throughout the home.

The result? A beautiful hardwood floor with rich natural character and a home that feels as good as it looks.

Because sometimes the biggest difference in a hardwood flooring project is something you don’t see. It’s what you no longer hear.

For this staircase renovation in Coconut Grove, we worked with the existing wood structure to create a cleaner, lighter, and more contemporary look.

We started by removing the original balusters while keeping the main posts. Once the balusters and existing hardware were removed, we carefully repaired the holes left behind using custom wood plugs.
Then came the sanding process, removing the old finish and revealing a lighter, more natural wood tone that completely changed the character of the staircase.

Same staircase. New look. And a great example of how skilled wood restoration can transform what’s already there.

Underneath decades of wear was rare, extinct Dade County Pine. Over 6 days of meticulous craftsmanship, our team executed a complete NWFA-certified restoration sequence:
- Stain Remediation: Removed 90% of severe water damage without replacing a single historic board.
- Multi-Stage Sanding: Progressive rough, medium, and 100-grit passes to eliminate scratch patterns on dense pine.
- Triple Trowel-Filling: Locked every seam while accommodating natural century-old wood movement.
- Premium Finish: Protected with 3 coats, finishing with Bona Traffic HD for long-term clarity and durability.

Over the last 6 days, our craftsmen executed a complete historic restoration process:

- Stain Remediation: Removed 90% of severe water damage without replacing a single board of this extinct species.
- Multi-Stage Sanding: Progressive sequence culminating in a 100-grit pass to eliminate scratch patterns.
- Triple Trowel Fill: Stabilized wood movement and locked every seam.
