What a great week at Mississippi Art Colony’s Spring Session. I was delighted my painting “Jonquils and an Apple” was selected as part of the Colony’s Spring Traveling Show. This year’s theme for Awards Night was “The Garden.” Guess who got the Best Costume Award? ME! I was surprised and honored my painting “Jonquils and an Apple” received the Lake Tiak-O-Khama Staff Award.😀🤗.

Amsterdam-A canal or so over from Stephen and Penelope we found Hooks and Yarn. A rather quaint shop compared to Stephen and Penelope. Interestingly they had some yarn hand dyed in India. Yes I purchased a skein. Julia found an enticing book on knitting Scandinavian socks with woodland animal designs. Yes it came back with us too.

Julia fell in love 😍 with this pink hand dyed yarn from Hungary. Being a bit pricey I suggested one skein since the 500 plus yards was enough to knit a scarf. Julia replied with “ Look at the colorway name and there are only 2 skeins left. How could we leave just one by itself?” JULI Okay it was fate. Both skeins came home with us. The yarn is a fi*****ng weight, 100% merino wool from a company called Loli carried at Stephen and Penelope in Amsterdam.

On the Rhine-Kehl, Germany aboard The Viking Sigyn (sun deck) Julia and I were determined to enjoy the sunshine even though it was a rather windy day. To keep warm Julia chose her Enchanted Shawl, a pattern designed by Susanna Ic. Julia knitted the shawl using Plymouth’s Equinox, a light DK 65% extra fine merino/ 20% linen/ 15% mulberry silk blend. Color Fuchsia Sunset. According to Julia about 1,000 beads. .

Stephen and Penelope at last. We had spent the morning on a walking tour of Amsterdam. Covered a lot of cobblestone and avoided lots of speeding bicycles. Our feet were pretty tired, but the anticipation of what yarn we might find kept us going.
