One of the many things I love about this home is all of the beautiful arches featured both inside and out!

Here’s a little peek at the front entry hall! We honestly didn’t change much in this space, but a few simple updates made it feel so much cleaner and more polished while still preserving the character of the home.

We added beautiful milk glass pendants all the way down the hallway, gave the walls a fresh coat of Dutch Boy Paint Aged Marble, touched up and resealed all of the original woodwork, and of course, refinished the original oak floors!

There’s just so much to love about every room in this home!

All because I refuse to be a gray vinyl plank house flipper! 😅

This house was blessed with 2,500 square feet of beautiful, original red oak and old growth pine hardwood floors. The wood itself was still in great shape, but after nearly 100 years, the finish had definitely seen better days! After almost 3 days of sanding, every square foot is finally down to the raw wood and ready for stain! 🙌🏼

For whatever reason, a lot of people think refinishing hardwood is just the “cheap” option but what they don’t realize is that the quality is SO much better than vinyl or laminate could ever be. These floors have already stood the test of time for nearly a century, they’ve never gone out of style, and unlike vinyl, they can be sanded and refinished again and again if you ever want to change the color or refresh the finish.

Why replace 100 years of character with something that’s going to look dated in 10? 😉

One of the biggest issues I had with designing the kitchen was what to do with the big blank wall….When I bought the home it’s where the only kitchen cabinets hung but after reconfiguring the entire space we were able to add plenty of beautiful cabinetry along the other walls so more cabinets weren’t really needed and the wall is placed right by the door way so I didn’t want any too deep so I decided to construct this beautiful oversized plate cabinet! Now you can display your favorite dishes as an art along with a great place for cook books! Another neat part is that the corbels on the bottom were once part of the original fireplace mantle.
