Annelie‘s Blumen

Annelie‘s Blumen 🌸 Annelie's Blumen: whimsical pressed flower designs. Locally grown art! 🌿 And I remembered.

When I, Doro, was growing up in East Germany, my Oma Annelie’s bookstore was my favorite place, brimming with old and new books, stationary and school supplies. In summer I would often accompany Oma foraging for wildflowers and carefully placing them into old books to press and preserve their fragile beauty. As the seasons shifted, I sat at her crafting table, selecting these same flowers and leav

es to create lovely greeting cards, which she sold in her store. The fall of the Berlin Wall brought change, reuniting Germany; the book was sold, and Oma entered her well-deserved retirement. In the hustle and bustle of life, I, too, moved on, and the memory of Oma’s cards faded into the past. It wasn’t until I found myself in a new home on the untamed Olympic Peninsula that I realized I had chosen a place teeming with familiar flowers and grasses. The moment I crafted my very first card from flowers I had gathered and pressed myself I felt closer to my late Oma Annelie than I had in years. Her spirit, creativity, and the enduring love for these little floral works of art had been rekindled. Today, I live with my family on a small homestead just outside the village of Joyce. I take pleasure in gardening and herbal medicine, relishing the beauty of the peninsula while mindfully embracing a lifestyle attuned to the changing seasons. I once again find joy in the simple act of gathering flowers, grasses and leaves, watching them transform ordinary paper into little worlds of sunshine. I invite you to join me on this beautiful journey - handmade with love and nature.

Everett, my heart is absolutely bursting. 🌸✨ Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for an incredible weekend at Sorticulture!

To say I am overwhelmed by your kindness, your stories, and your support would be a massive understatement. Getting to stand in my booth for three days and watch your faces light up as you met my little Blumen Buddies is the absolute best part of what I do.

I wrote down some of my favorite things I heard you say this weekend, because they touched me so deeply:
✨ "These just make me feel good all over!"
✨ "Just happy is the word!"
✨ "You don’t know what to love next!"
✨ “You listen gracefully to the flowers.” (I might have to frame that one!)

The absolute, unapologetic bestseller of the entire weekend was my sweet little "Secret Reader." 📚🌿 I am so happy to share that the original piece found its forever home this weekend—alongside 26 other original framed pieces! Sending twenty-seven of my original pressed flower creations off to brighten up your homes is a milestone I won't ever forget.

👉 Scroll through the photos to see the other top fan-favorites from the weekend! Whether you bought an original, grabbed your very first weather-resistant sticker, stocked up on greeting cards, or simply stopped by to share a kind word—you made my second year at Sorticulture unforgettable.

I’m headed back to the studio now to press a mountain of fresh blooms and get ready for the next adventure. I love you, Everett! 💚

Summer market season is officially here, and my calendar is beautifully packed! 🌿✨

I’ve been working away in my studio—pressing locally foraged flowers, framing fresh designs, and restocking a mountain of whimsical greeting cards, bookmarks, and weather-resistant stickers. This summer, my little Blumen Buddies and I are traveling all over the Pacific Northwest. I’m returning to some of my favorite local community traditions on the Peninsula, heading across the water to beautiful island festivals, and embarking on a couple of exciting, first-time city adventures!

Check out the image to see the full lineup from May through August. 🗺️🌸

✨ A quick note for my local friends: When I'm not traveling to these larger weekend shows, I will be setting up camp at the Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market on Saturdays whenever I can squeeze it in! Keep an eye on my stories for those weekly updates.

Save this post, mark your calendars, and drop a comment below letting me know which market you'll be strolling through. I absolutely cannot wait to see you out in the sunshine! 👇☀️
