I am extremely excited to say that I was chosen as an award winner for an international juried photography competition!! Out of 20 countries, 54 winners were chosen!! A huge deal for me as an artist who loves art in all forms. This is the first time I’ve ever entered a photograph for a juried competition.

This photograph is called “Behind the Looking Glass”

I took this at the The John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, MI. The bear is “Boo”
It made me ponder what he was looking at and if was he dreaming of what life would be like beyond the looking glass, beyond all who stopped to stare at him in wonder of his beauty. The reflection of the trees in the camera lens- did he see those beautiful trees, was he happy? His eyes in the photo touched my heart…and really made me ponder….. does he see beyond the looking glass?

The John Ball Zoo is amazing, what I do know is that he is very well taken care of. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it.

2026 Thumb Art Exhibition opening reception yesterday- was very nice and with such a great turn out! Nice to see so much interesting artworks and was happy that my artwork, Silence in the Mist, was accepted into the show.

She speaks the truth!
How this talk reminds me of my series The Architecture of Resolve is all about the trauma, stress, anxiety that can put you in a state of incredible pressure, but the the importance to take time to relax- Restore does and can lead to Healing… or a state of Resolve.

These pieces belong in a place that understands and can appreciate this process.

Manifesting speaks to the growth we nurture within and the life we dare to imagine. Framed by two ancient trees—symbols of strength, grounding, protection, and the wisdom of what has come before—the central tree emerges with a feminine essence, her face embodying wonder, longing, and possibility. The brilliant autumn canopy represents the life she seeks: filled with beauty, peace, joy, and abundance. Together, the trees create a passage from where we are to where we envision ourselves becoming—a reminder that what we nurture within can become the life we manifest beyond.
