Close to the finish line… again! 😬 I had to take out all the color weaving and the border because I didn’t read the directions carefully enough. Raise a hand if you identify 🙋🏽‍♀️ pattern by and I’m sure she will forgive me 💛

Finally finished with a Tunisian crochet baby blanket for a precious baby girl! My crochet projects take me much longer during tax season but it was all worth it. I learned the Tunisian crochet join as you go technique to accomplish this clean color block look. Video is by on YouTube. My daughter suggested a crochet shell stitch border, which gave balance to the straight stitches and squares. Anyone else a fan of the join as you go technique? 🧶

With some help from my mom, I created a lining for my Tunisian crochet Sonora Bag over Christmas break! It’s the first time I’ve had my sewing machine out since we moved in August of 2023 😬😂 I used fabric scraps that somewhat coordinated and I absolutely love the finished result. Super glad Mom had the idea to add the divided pockets to hold my phone and other small items! If you love Tunisian crochet, put The Sonora Bag on your crochet project list. The pattern is very well written, easy to follow, and beautiful. Yarn is Billow from and I loved how the colors work together. Next is hand sewing the lining in and attaching the strap!

My latest crochet project is headed towards the finish line! The ends are woven in on the main piece of Tunisian crochet fabric and it’s just so beautiful I had to share it now. Can’t wait to put the rest of it together!

Remembering… April is the birth month of my Aunt Sally, who passed away of cancer right after the new year. She fought a good fight but three kinds of cancer was just too much. I witnessed a beautiful softening in her spirit these last years since she was diagnosed. She was an avid crafter - jewelry making, card making, paper making, sewing crocheting and much more. She revived her love for crochet during her illness and she made a beautiful blanket for her youngest granddaughter. She was in the middle of another project when she passed and it’s been entrusted to me to finish. I consider this a great honor and after much trial & error I’ve figured out the hook size, stitch, and how to complete the blanket. The funny thing is it’s just like Aunt Sally. She used the pattern as a guideline and not a blueprint. Her creative spirit just couldn’t make the pattern 100% as written. I got a big kick out of that today, realizing she put her Sally touch on it 💛 I look forward to completing it and giving it to a very special person in her life.

We have another crochet blanket maker in the family! It’s her second crochet baby blanket and it looks sooo good! So proud of my girl 💛 Pattern by from the Handmade Hugs book, available on Amazon (see my story or profile link). It’s a wonderful book with 55 great patterns for beginner to intermediate crocheters. My daughter loved learning the shell stitch for a pretty border. Thank you Tiffany & crew!

*LONG POST WARNING*

So proud of my friend Kaitlyn!!! 🥹 She’s now a published crochet author and this arrived today in the mail! One of my kids pre-ordered it for me for my birthday gift. Go Kaitlyn!!

If you’re wondering who the heck I am, I’ve taken a much needed extended break from social media and publishing crochet designs (I have a bunch just sitting around my house!) to raise teenagers. If you haven’t been there yet yourself, BUCKLE UP. 😂 My oldest is preparing for the 4-year college track so we’ve been doing college visits & research and writing scholarship essays and Senior year prep. All three of my kids are in band and two took private lessons over the summer. We went camping and on several vacations this summer. We had church activities and sports and we are undergoing a huge home remodel (my husband is a contractor). All the chaos makes it hard to concentrate and give crochet designing the focused attention it needs. But, I am SUPER grateful for this crochet business I have because it was how we paid for those private music lessons over the summer! If you have ever purchased a pattern from me, or used a free pattern from my website, THANK YOU for supporting my family and our hopes & dreams 💛💛💛

Finished project!! Feels sooo good! Have you finished anything lately? I’ve been stuck on a bunch of almost finished projects but I finally got some momentum going last week. This large bag is the Marlowe Tote crochet pattern from and it’s available for purchase or free on her blog 👍🏼 The stitch pattern makes a tight weave, which is perfect for a tote bag. I highly recommend this pattern, which is very clearly written and has creative methods!
