Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-11

1. After a couple weeks of slowness and not a lot blooming, the farm is BACK. This first photo is a DIY Event Bucket that left the farm this week. I offer these to my retail customers who want to arrange flowers themselves. Check out the link in bio for more info.

2-4. This is hands down my best year of roses. The plants have really come into their own and are producing long stems with giant blooms. I grow just under a dozen different varieties. I’m a sucker for David Austin roses, so most of what I grow is from that hybridizer.

5-6. Sweet peas are also leveling up their game! I think I cut 100 stems this morning, and that was after harvesting yesterday too. These will be around for a little while longer - look for them at the wholesale market and in mixed bouquets.

7-8. New crops have arrived with their first stems and are about to explode! Yarrow is in picture number 7. It’s a darling perennial that never stops from May until frost. It goes with everything and I use it often. Number 8 is campanula, my much awaited and anticipated crop this year because it’s my first time growing it! These were planted in the field in October, overwintered with a low tunnel, and have been slowly growing suuuuper tall. 2-3 ft stems will be headed to OFGA next week.

9. Here’s a kitty hiding in the larkspur. He’s become quite the hunter and I’m glad to have him keeping the vole population under control.

So much more to come as we launch into summer! Check back in next week ✌️

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-10

1. The peonies are all bloomed out and they are glorious! If I had to pick one flower that people clamor to get the most, it’s this one. I can see why. Their ruffly petals and massive bloom heads are mesmerizing. My peony plants are young, only two years old. As they get older they will produce more and more stems, but this year each plant had just 3-4 blooms. It makes them all the more precious!

2-3. The sweet peas are finally starting to take off. The first picture is a variety called ‘Painted Lady’ and the second is ‘Lunar Blue’. Their scent is intoxicating. Florists: these will be on my cart at OFGA next week, look for them there. Bouquet customers: find these tucked into arrangements in the farm stand soon.

4. This is the last photo for this post because there’s a little lull between crops at the farm right now. Campanula, yarrow, scabiosa and feverfew are all on their way, but haven’t quite arrived. I’m taking lots of notes for next season so I can plan on filling in the gap this time of year. There’s always something to learn!

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-9

1. Mother’s Day week was a wild ride! I was working like a busy bee, flitting from task to task and place to place. I am immensely grateful for the number of you, florists and retail customers, who wanted to buy my flowers. It felt like a validation of years of work. This picture here is from the pop up I did at Yours Truly on Sunday. It was colorful and vibrant and so fun!

2. We pulled out the poppies from this row right after I snapped this photo. Even though poppies are perennials, they do best being treated as an annual in our climate. These sweet plants gave so many blooms over and over. I’m thankful for their service and we’ll see them again next year.

3-5. Peonies and roses are here! These blooms always sneak up on me a little bit, I think because they often start around the madness of Mother’s Day. I love them more each year. Peonies are so precious because they are here and gone quickly. Enjoy them while you can!

6-7. A harvest haul with some of the last allium of the year. Plus the campanula row that’s juuuuust about to pop!

8. These are the very last butterfly ranunculus stems and they were donated to a charity event. I needed one last photo of them because they’re just too beautiful.

It’s a little bit of a transitional season at the farm right now - planting summer crops and waiting for our late spring ones to bloom. I’m going to use the moment to relax for a bit and look back on a successful early spring!

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-8

1-3. The allium are here! These funky flowers are so unique and special. I look forward to their arrival every year. Allium are part of the onion family, so they come with a bit of onion-y stink, but they make up for it in style. Don’t the white ones look kind of like massive dandelion seed heads?

4-5. The poppies and tulips hung in there through some very warm weather. They look great and will be featured in Mother’s Day bouquets. They are otherwise done for the year, so we say goodbye until next season.

6. Peonies are just beginning to bloom! Peonies were the very first plants I put in the ground at the new farm. I have a couple hundred of them, and a few different varieties. I can cut some stems here and there, but I do so judiciously. Peonies are not mature until they’re about 3-5 years old. They need a lot of time to grow a strong root system and become established. One plant can live to be 100 years old, so patience and a long term, big picture mentality are necessary when growing these beauties.

7-8. A little sneak peek of some of the bouquets I’ll be bringing to Yours Truly on Sunday from 11-1. Get something bold and beautiful for your vibrant mama.

This week has been a doozy! Grateful for all of it - the hard work and early mornings included. But also looking forward to a little slow down and rest soon.

In celebration and to wrap up, here’s each bouquet from the 2026 Early Spring CSA! If you were a customer this year, thank you again, so very sincerely. The land gave us beautiful daffodils, tulips, ranunculus, and poppies to enjoy. I hope you loved each week 💛

Weekly Farm Chronicles: 2026-6

I was so busy last week that I took all of 10 photos; here’s most of them!

1-2. It’s the last week and last bouquets of the Early Spring CSA for this year! It’s been a joy to create these each week. This one features ‘La Belle Epoque’ tulips, fluffy ranunculus, and a special stem of double flowering white lilac.

3-5. The ranunculus are really showing off right now. These flowers never cease to amaze me, with their many layers and petals, the way they can open and close, and their color variations. I think I’ll never not grow them.

6. Tulips are almost done for the year. This variety, called ‘Double Arosa’, has been one of the last to arrive. I didn’t order it originally, it was a sub for a different variety that the wholesaler couldn’t supply. But I’m pleasantly surprised! It could pass for a peony in both shape and color.

7-8. Showing up at Yours Truly with flowers every week has been a highlight. These bud vases and CSA bouquets were from last week. More to come today!

9. I’ve been getting into a rhythm with stocking my cart at the market. It has taken more logistical planning than I anticipated. The learning curve has been steep! But I keep adjusting and being flexible. I love being there and getting to interact with so many florists and designers.

That’s a wrap for this week! I’ll be back next with more pictures of flowers (and maybe a duckling or two).

No filter or editing, just pure beauty from these ranunculus. They are getting started for the season and I needed them to have a permanent spot on the grid to commemorate.

If you had to pick between roses, ranunculus, or peonies (I know, I know, BIG ask!) which would it be?
