We’re pleased to share that Paul Designs Project is now fig. 19, a new name and refreshed brand expression for our architecture, research, planning, and interiors studio.

The name fig. 19 comes from the way figures in science, art, architecture, and design books make ideas visible. A figure can clarify relationships, reveal patterns, and give form to something still emerging. I’ve always been drawn to that moment when a conversation, question, or quiet observation begins to take shape as a sketch, diagram, plan, or place.

Paul Designs Project took home a well deserved Citation Award for their project, The Notch House, at the 2025 AIA Maine Design Awards. Congratulations to Paul and his team on this beautiful mountain escape. Scroll through for the full "tour."

From the Jury:
This project is an excellent case study in the artistic use of materials, light, and craftsmanship to define form and function. The development of the massing from the mountains beyond is effective, leading to an efficient floor plan and lovely views throughout.
