Ever heard of co**se candles? According to an old Welsh legend, these mysterious ghostly lights were believed to appear before someone’s death, sometimes following the path their body would later take to the cemetery.

They’re on tour right now, and I’ve played their song “Upside Down” about 7 times tonight alone. 😂

$8 AN HOUR for parking?!? 💸

Portland’s Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is proposing to raise event parking rates from $5.40 to $8/hour — a 48% increase — on certain streets in the Eliot neighborhood near the Moda Center and Rose Quarter.

A few things to know:

* This is a proposal, not an approved increase.
* It would apply only to designated high-demand streets during major events.
* Zone V permit holders would remain exempt.
* PBOT says the goal is to free up parking for residents and local businesses.

As a small business owner, I understand wanting to make parking more accessible. But I also wonder whether higher rates could discourage people from visiting nearby businesses.

What do you think? Would $8/hour change your plans?

While visiting Vancouver, BC, I stopped by 輔行精品 | A Vancouver Chinatown Foundation Initiative , a wonderful little gift shop in historic Chinatown with a much bigger mission.

Foo Hung Curios is an initiative of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, located inside the 華埠掌故 | A Vancouver Chinatown Foundation Initiative. The shop celebrates Asian and Asian Canadian culture through thoughtfully curated jewelry, art, stationery, home goods, and gifts, while supporting independent Asian Canadian artists and designers.

The shop’s name honors the original Foo Hung Company, established in Vancouver’s Chinatown in 1921.

And the best part? 100% of the shop’s proceeds support the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, which works to preserve Chinese Canadian history, share community stories, and celebrate the cultural heritage of Vancouver’s Chinatown.
