Many of you know of my long time fellowship with the Philadelphia Dumpster Divers. One of our founders, Joel Spivak passed away last year. Joel was not only a Diver, he was one of the community organizers and architects of the South Philly Renaissance of the 70’s. He was a historian and one of his fav topics was the history of the Philly Trolley System. A nickname in the Divers for Joel is the Trolley Lama
He was the owner of the iconic Rocketships & Accessories and Joel simply made South Philly and our world better.
There is a petition to request that the Philadelphia City Council designate the block of South 4th Street between South Street and Bainbridge Street as "Joel Spivak Way."
