Repurposed Wood Studio

Repurposed Wood Studio I currently work from Bethany, Oregon. Then lots of fish bonkers followed - again exploring different wood effects. Requests came for coasters that matched.

Repurposed Wood Studio makes hand carved utensils and artistic forms from cast-off scraps:
rolling pins, bowls, spoons, rice paddles, cheese and charcuterie boards, vases, cups, knives, wok stirs etc. Welcome to Artisan Wood Kitchen Utensils

The Repurposed Wood Studio started off as FishOff, making my popular FishOff "no touch" fish release tool in a variety of recycled hardwoods. Then I started

making hand carved utensils - again from cast-off's scraps and recycled wood - various styles of rolling pins, spoons, rice paddles, wok stirs, and pestles, muddlers, bowls, scoops and tongs. Then people asked for cheese boards and knives. They've been hugely popular! In the last two years I've spent more time on bowl and vase forms: less concerned with what the finished piece would be used for and more focus on bringing out the truest form of that piece of wood. I prefer to work in koa and mango when in Hawaii and pacific yew in Oregon, but find myself experimenting with lots of woods.

Trying something new to me. These are examples of an idea called basket illusion. Make a box ( or a plate, or platter, or bowl), the bead the surface, burn equal segments with a woodburner, the pick or make a pattern and color it in.
Sounds simple enough.... but the devil is in the details! And there are a LOT of details!!
The first box is pacific yew, 5in tall and 3in diameter, and can be yours for $67
the second is magnolia, 7in tall and 4in diameter. $140
