For the third installment in my Favorite Design Projects series, I'm sharing the transformation of a beautiful home nestled in Portland's West Hills, just off Skyline Boulevard. This home was the definition of an urban cabin—surrounded by lush greenery with a warm, inviting character.

My clients asked me to refresh the kitchen finishes and refine the home's great room, which includes the entry, living, and dining areas. The goal was to honor the home's craftsmanship while creating a more cohesive, updated feel.

Highlights of the transformation include:
• Updated lighting in the entry and dining room to enhance warmth and ambiance.

• New leather seating in the living room for added comfort and timeless style.

• Custom dining table and chairs, beautifully handcrafted by the homeowner, which remained the centerpiece of the space.

• Kitchen cabinetry refinished in a warm medium gray to complement the existing flooring.

• New countertops and backsplash for a fresh, elevated look.

• A vibrant green accent wall that echoes the surrounding forest, bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside.

One of my favorite aspects of this project was preserving the home's unique personality while introducing thoughtful updates that feel both timeless and connected to its natural setting.

For this second installment on reflections of my favorite Möbius Home projects, this was a new home that our clients were moving into from a Seattle relocation to a cozy Townhome in Sellwood. This was particularly fun because of the wonderful collectibles they brought with them. Almost all the pieces were vintage, transported from their previous home. We also sourced vintage furnishings in Portland. This is the gold standard of sustainable Interior design. We repurpose and reuse, and shop local makers. The asian art from the owner’s family from Hong Kong gives it the unique character they sought, to make the space reflect who they are and where they’re from. The journey to achieving the final outcome took months, from the initial introductions, creating the design and mood boards for the client’s approval, to meeting with local makers to turn a vision into reality. Such a fun and rewarding journey. I cherish those memories and will value the experience I’ve had with all the accomplished professionals we worked with to make this a beautiful success and cozy home.

Looking back on my career, I’m reminded of the many projects that brought me the greatest sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing a series of posts highlighting some of my favorite work from the 12 years I spent building, growing, and leading Mobius Home Sustainable Interiors.

I’m beginning with this project, completed in 2020 for clients who had recently moved into a stunning architect-designed modern home overlooking the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in Portland, Oregon.

Working closely with the homeowners, the rooms furnished and styled were several key living spaces, including the kitchen nook, family room, dining room, living room, and primary bedroom. The goal was to create interiors that complemented the home’s clean architectural lines while bringing warmth, comfort, and livability to each space.

What made this project especially rewarding was the opportunity to enhance a home with such a strong connection to its natural surroundings. The finished interiors reflected both the beauty of the architecture and the extraordinary landscape just beyond the windows—creating spaces that felt contemporary, welcoming, and deeply connected to place.

As I reflect on this project today, it remains one of the many experiences that remind me why I loved helping clients transform their houses into homes that truly reflected how they wanted to live.
