We’ve been lucky to get some wonderful press over the years, but the article that made me feel the most feelings is the recent piece by Emily Grosvenor about our NestFest Signature Room—I don’t know if I’ve ever felt so creatively seen!!! …I’ve written about Lonesome Pictopia before and I’ve loved their wallpapers for a very long time. But in nearly every feature I’ve included them in, I’ve come across the papers as a splashy moment in a larger interior design project, sometimes the starting point for a room but never the point of it. People tend to fear investing in one loudish pattern in a project, let alone multiple patterns that will be in conversation with each other. Mixing pattern takes talent and vision…
…Isn’t the whole thing just a triumph of joy and sophistication? I’ve been trying to think about who the person is who the designers would have designed this around, a made-up figure who has a thing for updated folk, botanical adoration, and an office that says: Room of Her Own, and all I came up with was me. It’s me. Or maybe you. Or maybe Elizabeth Lord or Edith Schryver, the landscape architects who opened the first women-owned architecture studio in Oregon in 1929. Love of plants. Art Deco vibes.
