Chown Hardware Founded in 1879, Chown Hardware is the industry leader in high-quality hardware.

Did you know we work with designers on both residential and commercial projects? For nearly 150 years, Chown has built a legacy alongside Pacific Northwest architects, designers, builders, homeowners, facilities directors, project managers, and contractors to honor their residential and commercial spaces with intelligently crafted and radiantly designed products. Our residential division pairs the world’s finest architecturally-inspired plumbing, lighting, and hardware with the industry’s most experienced and approachable service—simplifying the design process by locally selecting, purchasing, and delivering the fixtures needed to craft, curate, and construct spaces for modern living and gathering. Our commercial division owns the standard in products designed to meet the demands of high-traffic, day-to-day use and safety needs in commercial offices, healthcare and education facilities, and government agencies. We're the Pacific Northwest's leading provider of commercial-grade doors, hardware, and security products; providing exceptional services including locksmithing, door and hardware installation, and fire door inspections. Peruse residential products, design projects, and book an appointment at one of our three showroom locations at chown.com. Or, visit chowncommercial.com for more information or to get a quote on your next commercial project.

Something our Chown Commercial team never takes for granted is the trust and longstanding relationships we’ve built with our clients. Many of whom we’ve had the privilege of serving for decades.

From large-scale projects, like supplying an entire building with new doors and hardware, to routine fire inspections. As well as the smaller, but equally important jobs, like fixing a door that's binding or replacing a failing piece of hardware.

We’re grateful for every project and opportunity to serve our community. The longevity of these relationships is a testament to the thoroughness and personal service we strive to bring to every job.

A special thank you to a few of our loyal clients who have trusted us throughout the years:

- Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)
- Portland Public Schools
- McMenamin's Kennedy School
- Rose Haven
- Oregon Zoo
- Portland'5 Centers for the Arts
- Portland Japanese Garden
- Multnomah County, Oregon
- Central City Concern
- Metro

Your wellness routine shouldn’t require a commute.

A typical trip to a wellness facility can mean a 15-30 minute drive each way, changing, showering before using shared facilities, and even waiting for someone else to finish their time in the cold plunge.

But when you have a sauna, steam shower, or cold plunge from Chown Hardware at home, making time for your health becomes a whole lot easier.

Research suggests that consistent sauna use can mean 15–20 minutes per session, several times a week. Steam therapy can take just 10–15 minutes a few times a week, while cold plunging can be as little as 1–5 minutes a few times a week.

At Chown Hardware, we offer thoughtfully selected wellness products, including saunas, steam shower systems, and cold plunge tubs, to help you create a home that supports both your well-being and your time.

Because sometimes the ultimate luxury isn’t having more things. It’s having more time.

There’s something so imperfectly perfect about hand hammered products. And in a world with the constant push for automation and speeding up processes, slowing down to do something like hand hammering a piece of hardware is becoming increasingly rare and unique.

Each piece of Ashley Norton's hand-hammered cabinet hardware, door hardware, and accessories is meticulously hammered by a master craftsman, transforming every surface into a one-of-a-kind work of art.

The result is a richly tactile aesthetic that brings depth, character, and quiet luxury to refined interiors.

Chown Hardware can help get these beautiful Ashley Norton products into your home. Visit our website or showrooms to learn more!

When selecting plumbing and hardware for your home, accessibility and safety aren’t always top of mind. But thoughtful choices today can make a meaningful difference down the road, especially for those planning to stay in their forever home or who may one day need additional support with mobility.

That’s where design and function can work together. BainUltra offers several tub options with integrated grab bars, providing added stability and support without compromising the look and feel of the space.

The benefits of a grab bar go beyond convenience. Research has found that people who had a grab bar available in a shower or tub were 75.8% more likely to recover their balance during a slip or balance-disrupting task than those without one.

Accessibility doesn’t have to mean sacrificing beautiful design. With the right products, you can create a bathroom that feels elevated today while helping make your home safer and more comfortable for the future.

It’s Fire Prevention Week! This week, we’re highlighting one of the important ways Chown Commercial helps keep buildings, businesses, and communities safer: fire-rated doors.

Fire doors are specially designed to help contain the spread of flames and smoke by separating sections of a building. In the event of a fire, they can help protect lives, property, and designated escape routes by creating a barrier between areas of the building.

Fire doors can be made from materials like wood, steel, or glass and are constructed with specialized materials and components that help them withstand heat, flames, and smoke. Depending on their rating, they can help hold back fire for anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, giving occupants more time to evacuate and helping limit the spread of a fire.

Contact our team to learn more about fire-rated openings and how we can help protect your space! https://chowncommercial.com/contact/

If you’ve ever left a commercial building, chances are you’ve pushed an exit device on your way out and there’s a good chance it was a Von Duprin.

More than a hundred years ago, Von Duprin invented the very first self-releasing fire exit device, and they’ve continued to advance the industry ever since. The brand is known for durable, reliable solutions that are proven to withstand heavy use and abuse, while also upholding code compliance and ADA standards.

There’s a reason they’re an industry standard.

In design, it’s the smallest details that make the biggest impact. A distinctive k**b or a beautiful fabric can be the element that brings an entire space together.

That’s the inspiration behind ‘The Finishing Touch’, a collaborative event hosted by The Joinery Kravet, and Chown Hardware.

Join us for an evening of design inspiration, personalized style guidance, and exclusive collections as we explore how furniture, textiles, and hardware come together to create a curated interior. You’ll also have the opportunity to view our Chown Legacy Collection in person, made explicitly for the PNW market and named after our very own Portland, Oregon bridges.

Enjoy light bites, beverages, and plenty of inspiration!

When: Thursday, October 8 // 5-8 pm
