Sam is baaaack! They’re in the classroom for an extra special spooky class this time. You’ll learn how to hand sew sequins and create your own sequin artwork to take home. Who doesn’t love an underdog! We will be making the most fabulous little bugs to ever exist in celebration of the upcoming spooky season.

How is everyone’s Sacred Sheep project coming along??

Our shop sample of the Bellwether, made by the wonderful RD team member Annie, uses Marona in Hickory and oSHen Bubbles DK in Periwinkle. Those little sheepies on the yoke are just so cute!

The Bellwether by Caitlin Hunter is the knit pattern featured for the Sacred Sheep 2026 make-a-long. If you haven’t joined yet, don’t worry! There’s still time to cast on, and she recently released a beanie version of the Bellwether if you’re looking for a smaller project. It has the same cute sheep motif in a field of flowers.

The MAL goes right up to Sacred Sheep weekend! Happy knitting :)

🌸 EUCALYPTUS BLOOM TEES 🌸

Our Bloom Tee has been a fav since its inception and we have a brand new colorway for you all. This green is inspired by our Sacred Sheep merch - we fell in love with the tees we used back in 2024. It was about time to introduce a new colorway to our Bloom Tee lineup, so this was an obvious choice! Printed locally on a heavyweight 100% cotton tee, these shirts are comfy, perfectly washed, and a way to sport your crafty side when not wearing finished projects. The artwork featured is by our lovely friend Irene Wachtler. (Plus, Petal is finally back in stock!)

Goldfinch Collective | custom charm necklaces that inspire will be joining up in the shop with their charm bar on Sunday, October 25th! Goldfinch has been doing pop-ups all of Portland for a while now. You may have caught them at Circle Round, Nordstrom, Kate’s Ice Cream, Artifact, and various markets around town! They’re always a highlight of these events and it’s amazing to host them in our shop. I hear they’re also bringing some special charms just for us 👀

It’s cardigan season! We fell in love with the new Ozetta pattern, the August Cardigan, when she posted about it for the first time a while back. The rolled edges, raglan details, and little line of purl bumps at the collar give the simple shape so much interest!

For this project, Rachel picked out Gilliatt in the colorway Granit and Tynn Silk Mohair in Dark Grey Melange. Gilliatt is one of our favorite yarns in the shop. It’s squishy, soft, and beautifully heathered, with an amazing palette of colors. Paired with Tynn Silk, it works up to be such a dreamy fabric!

A little peek into what we’re bringing to A Woolen Affair - Catherine Clark 👀 Get your shopping list ready!! You may have a few new additions :-)

We’ve put together a gorgeous, autumnal palette of our hand-dyed yarn to bring with us. These colorways will be available in our Fae, Maiden, and Priestess bases. It’s always so fun putting together a more limited palette of hand dyed yarn. We have quite the lineup of colors, each with their own personality, so pulling out a few and seeing how they play off of each other is a really fun experiment. For A Woolen Affair, we were aiming for cozy, autumnal, rich and earthy. It’s the perfect color story to choose from for your next project.

Our custom colorways, Lilac Blossom and Eastern Blue Bird, are also available for preorder now on our website for those that can’t make it to the event!

There’s a special surprise in stock for A Woolen Affair attendees… Elder is back!!! If you’ve been around for a while, you may have noticed our fav worsted weight base has been out of stock. The mill that previously produced Elder closed their doors, and we had to completely restart. We’ve spent years (actual years, I wish that was an exaggeration) finding a new mill and perfecting this edition of Elder.

Elder is our 100% Rambouillet worsted weight base. It’s soft, bouncy, squishy, and the perfect yarn for cozy winter garments. The non-superwash wool is great for cables, textured knits, and colorwork, while still being soft enough to wear next to skin.

For now, Elder will be available in person only at A Woolen Affair. As our inventory grows, expect to see it in the store and online!

Alongside all of our yarn will be the Knitter’s Backpack and Moon Needle Case! These two make up the core of our little project bag ecosystem. The Knitter’s Backpack was introduced in person for the first time during NY Sheep & Wool, and it’s so fun to see it return to New York!

Rachael is teaching Intro to Cables again this month, just in time to fall knitting time!

Do you love the look of a timeless cable but feel apprehensive knitting those crosses? Look no further! In this class, you will get started on knitting the beautiful, plush Distance Scarf DK by Olga Putano. You will walk away from this class with the ability to increase and decrease, read a cable chart, read written cable instructions, and actually knit the cable cross itself. Students should already know how to cast on/off and knit/purl.

This class is on Wednesday, October 14th from 6-8pm.
