One of the most fun and colorful kitchens I’ve ever had the opportunity to design. It’s so much fun to work with clients who love to create a unique space. The mid century modern style features Ann Sacks Radius tile in an 8-shade blend of colors, Ann Sacks Terrazzo Renata floor, combined with a bright turquoise countertop, and a whimsical Lladro bird wall sconce. This was so much fun! Thank you to John Jones of Dreamline Renovations, King Cabinets & Construction, and John Valls Photography. , , , , ,

One of my favorite kitchen projects all done! I think we struck a nice balance between the client’s contemporary style, and the more transitional house. Mac, the dog, totally approves! But maybe that’s because I kept bringing him biscuits. Shout out to John Jones of Dreamline Renovations, and Al King, of King’s Cabinets & Construction, for making the vision come to life. ……….

Day #9! Today I enjoyed seeing this little deer chilling out all on his own in this pasture. I’m pretty sure this is the same one I see here often, just grazing, and frequently all by himself. He doesn’t run away like the other deer do. Such a peaceful creature.

Completed dental clinic design! My client wanted a warm and inviting feel in her clinic. I think I succeeded! This was a new construction in a multi-use commercial and residential building for Dr. Sue Walker, DMD FAGD. # portlandcommercialdesign

The pretty things begin to go in at Walker Dental! I especially love the tile in the private bathroom, and the wallcovering that spans across the treatment rooms. Nice to see everything really starting to take shape!

I’ve been perusing my past home office designs and came across this snapshot. I really enjoyed creating this space where my client could sit with a nice view over trees. The wall art is sports oriented, and the shelves hold his baseball collectibles and memorabilia. This doubles as their guest room with a comfortable sofa bed.

I know this isn’t a home office, but wouldn’t it make a great one? The desk in this wrapping station flips out to make it larger. Nice shelving has room for necessities, and the interior light brightens up the work space. Drapery hides it from view. If you need a home office, and have an under-used closet, this could be the solution for you.

Happy Thanksgiving! In honor of the holiday I'm sharing one of my favorite dining room projects. This featured super comfortable chairs, and a reclaimed wood table so the family could use it for all meals, and not worry about the table getting marked up. It was casual and family friendly, while still being beautiful to look at.

Function informs design: in this open plan space my client needed a large dining table “once in awhile”. And she wanted it completely out of the way the rest of the time. My solution was to create a roll out dining table that slides into the island to become a breakfast bar. They can seat up to 10 at this table. And with the indestructible Lapitec ceramic top, she can use it for her art projects too.

I designed this custom entryway bench for a client in a Pearl District penthouse. It's an elegant place to sit and remove shoes. And when she needs more seating in the adjacent living area, the individual pieces are easily moved. Creating functional design is one of the best parts of my job!
