🥩🧀 BBQ Cheddar Steak Subs 🔥
Tender steak, sautéed peppers and onions, smoky BBQ sauce, and loads of melted cheddar make these subs seriously satisfying. They’re quick enough for an easy weeknight dinner and cheesy enough to be a game-day favorite!
🛒 Ingredients
1 lb thinly sliced steak
4 hoagie rolls
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup BBQ sauce, plus extra for serving if desired
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
Season the thinly sliced steak evenly with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it begins to brown.
Add the sliced green bell pepper and onion. Continue cooking until the vegetables are tender and the steak is nicely browned and cooked through.
Pour in the BBQ sauce and stir until the steak, peppers, and onions are completely coated. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the sauce is hot and slightly thickened.
For extra crunch, lightly toast the hoagie rolls before filling them.
Divide the BBQ steak mixture evenly among the four rolls. Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over each sub.
Arrange the subs on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 5–7 minutes, until the cheddar is melted and bubbly.
Serve immediately while the rolls are warm and the BBQ steak filling is juicy and covered with gooey melted cheddar. Add a little extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping if you like! 🥩🧀🔥
