Jackie Sedlock Pottery

Jackie Sedlock Pottery dinnerware designed and hand made in Vermont I identify with those who work closely with the earth for their survival and the survival of their communities.

Working in mid-range stoneware fired in oxidation, my work reflects my experiences in nature and an interest in agrarian cultures. I’m interested in how this lifestyle relates to our connections with the land and with one another. I see ritual and devotion in this kind of work . Ultimately, I’m interested in how these practices connect is with each other and the land, therefore instilling us with

a quiet but powerful knowing. My hope is that in making functional pieces for everyday use, I can offer the user a way to focus on the moment and make the connection between their meals’ origins and their place in the greater circle that is all of us. From the time a person chooses a cup or bowl from the shop and then the cupboard, they are making a choice to be reminded to stay mindful on daily basis – a small ritual. I believe these daily rituals, great or small, can bring us to a greater consciousness – a collective consciousness that might enable us to live a little better every day

Some new slip and ash teacups from .
it will be available somewhere somehow. The best way is to come to the studio and buy one. If you’d like something in a post, get in touch and I’ll share details.
these are approximately 4 1/2” x 3”.
This clay body is something we call pony clay. It’s a nice mix I designed with Sheffield Pottery. I feel like it really serves the slipping ashes in a way that I’ve been going after.

If you’d like to check out the important stuff, for example, the work we do here in the studio, please visit my website through my profile. But, if you’re new to my account: I make pots, host pottery retreats and workshops, and offer cozy housing. I like to say that I say yes, before I say no. So, if you have an idea for using my studio and furthering your practice, get in touch and let’s have a conversation. I love it all and feel so fortunate to be here. Hope to meet your person in person sometime.

We had a great day firing yesterday. I couldn’t ask for a better crew. It was hot, and everyone rose to the occasion. There was definitely some cold plunging in between shifts. Had some wonderful visits from friends, stopping by to observe the process and pick up work made in the studio. We ate well, we exhausted ourselves, and now it’s time to sit around and enjoy the sounds of the birds. I might pick some flowers. I will definitely be in cool water a lot today.
