Okay,—I have a question. 👀

I’ve been busy pulling pieces for Sunday’s PRIMITIVES show, and these 1938 restaurantware pieces have me thinking…

Do YOU consider old restaurantware primitive?

When you hear primitives, what makes something qualify for you?
Is it age? Simple design? Utility? Wear and patina? Something that was made to be used rather than displayed?

Because these were hardworking, everyday dishes—not fancy china. Heavy, simple, durable restaurantware made to survive meal after meal. And paired with an old painted box and advertising tin, they certainly feel at home with primitives to me.

So what’s your verdict: PRIMITIVE or NOT PRIMITIVE? 👇
