It's like Christmas in July! Three more varieties of Hostas showed up today. My goal for next year is to offer over 20 different Hosta varieties in our little backyard nursery. When I can't locate certain varieties, I order starter plants in from all over the U.S. I just opened these up to breath a little. These 114 plants will be potted up soon and grown out to be available next spring. Some will be ready for fall planting. Hopefully I'll get these potted before the next boxes arrive!

God blessed us with a 1.5 inches of rain today! Not bad for the middle of July. The Mayhaws love it when the water pools up around them. Makes them think they're at home in flooded bottomland!

When you're out this weekend don't forget to check the clearance racks for plants! Walmart, Home Depot and especially Lowes. (If you like Hibiscus- Lowes had tons this week) A couple weeks back I found some tired Pentas and some dwarf Morning Glories marked down. Both full sun hot Texas plants. I grabbed them up, divided them and used some old hanging baskets. They have recovered and starting to bloom again. We all like getting more for our dollar! I have very little in 2 baskets and they should last till winter! The Coleus is next!!! Scott

With the spring growing season behind us and the summer heat setting in, it can mean only one thing. Time to start getting ready for next year! Pretty much all my hostas were sold this spring! So I have been busy propagating and restocking for 2027. Here is a couple pics of one table with 10 different varieties. I plan on at least 20 varieties for next year!

The Limelights are about to bloom! Most of them have their mint buds ready to burst open with those showy white blooms. Here are my tree forms about to explode. I cut these back eye level the first week of the new year. All the foliage you see is from this years growth. If you would like a smaller version of one of these, the last picture is of two 1 gal LL's I am grooming into tree forms. Already have blooms. $25 each. Let me know quick before I start digging holes for them! Scott

Just curious if anyone has or has had this plant in their landscape! We visited Ohio last July and seen this in large groupings and it was beautiful! A quick stop at a local nursery and I had several in the car for the long drive home. After reaching home, they quickly withered in the Texas July heat before I got them planted. They have come back and we finally have a bloom! Researching this plant I have been told they will thrive in Texas ( I am not convinced yet) and they we're very popular here years ago. If you have one, give me its "evil" name. No cheating! It is not a Bird of Paradise, Pride of Barbados or Freesia. Dont spoil it Donna Barnes !
