Similar to that one, I had fun with the texture✨

I met about a year ago. We both signed up for a grief cohort class.

🎨Over the course of the year we’ve had different conversations:: some fun, some difficult and in a short span of time witnessed different versions of ourselves. As human & artists.

🧦I was working on some socks and suddenly felt the urge to prepare her pup companion Frankie for “home going”.
🌵my friend had mentioned in other conversations how Frankie was her best friend and been there for her- always.
✨what came to me was :: constellations.
🧶I wove Frankie a triangle kerchief to go home in. I found yarn that looked like it has stars in it and matches Frankie’s coat.
🧶 using the same yarn, then wove mojo bags for Briana, her child, Frankie & her dear friend.
🐕Inside the bags are wooden, hand burned constellations of Canis Major, done by David & our son
🩵yes, these things are hard to think about and also.. when they come to pass, I wanted to make sure everyone had something of comfort.
With much gratitude- Mel🌵✨

I enjoyed making these felt birthday crown for an order✨🪩
There’s a total of 5 kiddos… here’s 2 so far.
🍄The W: this child’s favorite color is green. I went with mushrooms in muted jewel tones to represent his siblings.
🍄they are a close knit family and I really wanted them all reflected in each child’s crown whilst also centering the Wearer of their own crown.
🍄the mushroom colors are the favorite color of the sibling
🍄the parents are reflected at the top (head of household) as a blended rose: burnt orange and peach. The favorite colors of the parents.
🍄they are also reflected as structural supports to W, and I used the fly stitch to give the impression they are also supporting the siblings.
🎲The B: favorite color is red. I had a lot of fun with this 🤣though a toddler, has a fun personality that is starting to come through.
🎲plus working with red- Kitsch kept coming to mind.
🎲I landed on a vintage Vegas style crown. With mom and dad at the top again and the siblings reflected as vintage Star bursts
✨using ribbons means the wearer is not constrained by a fixed width.
✨making it perfect for those with locs, thick hair or straight hair & any life stage
