Hi, I’m Luis, and this is my story.

For a long time, I didn’t feel free to be myself.

Growing up in Lima, I learned to stay quiet. To hide parts of who I was. To make myself smaller so I wouldn’t draw attention or disappoint the people I loved. Living that way can make you feel like you’re carrying a weight no one else can see.

Coming out was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. My parents didn’t take it well at first, and there were moments when I wondered if being myself was worth the pain it caused. Looking back now, I can say it was. Because that difficult beginning became the start of a journey that changed my life.

Moving to Spain to study was the best decision I ever made. For the first time, I could breathe freely. I stopped asking for permission to be who I was. I stopped apologizing for taking up space. I stopped hiding. And in doing so, I found a freedom I had never known.

That’s what Pride means to me.

Yes, it’s the celebrations, the flags, and the parades. Those things matter. They honor the people who fought, protested, and refused to be invisible so future generations could live more openly.

But Pride is also something deeply personal.

It’s the moment you look in the mirror and no longer wish you were someone else. It’s the peace that comes from accepting yourself completely. It’s loving openly, living honestly, and no longer carrying the burden of pretending.

For me, that peace has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. Because there is something powerful about finally coming home to yourself after spending so many years feeling like you had to live somewhere else.

Pride isn’t just a month. It’s every day we choose authenticity over fear. Every day we refuse to shrink ourselves to make others comfortable. Every day we live our truth, even when it isn’t easy.

And if you’re reading this while still hiding, still questioning, or still afraid, know this: you are not alone. There is nothing wrong with who you are. There is a place for you in this world exactly as you are. And the freedom, peace, and joy waiting on the other side are worth every step it takes to get there.

Happy Pride. 🌈

Three days ago, my daughter turned one.
A full year of loving her, learning her, and slowly becoming someone new alongside her.
Today, I’m celebrating Mother’s Day surrounded by women who have shaped my life in the deepest ways. My mom, my hero, my sister who has lived the many seasons of motherhood before me, and my mother-in-law, who raised the kindest, most loving man I could have ever chosen to build a family with.
I look around and realize how held I’ve been.
Motherhood is often described through sacrifice and exhaustion, but what I will remember most is the love. The women who stepped in quietly, instinctively, constantly. The meals, the reassurance, the wisdom, the comfort, the feeling that I never had to carry everything alone.
They protected me while I learned how to protect someone else.
This year showed me that motherhood was never meant to be isolated. It was always meant to exist within a village of women who soften the weight of it all.
The happiness I feel today has no words. Neither does the gratitude.
To every mother celebrating today, happy Mother’s Day.

Earth Day is April 22. But for the Andes, every day has always been Earth Day. Ayni. Give, receive, return. The circle only works if it keeps moving.

Not everything that exhausts us is visible.

Sometimes it’s the constant noise, the unfinished corners, the feeling of never fully landing anywhere.

We think we need more time, more discipline, more energy.
But sometimes what we actually need is less.

Less noise.
Less pressure.
Less to carry.

Small shifts matter.
