ACTION ALERT: Please contact your State House Representative TODAY and tell them to VOTE NO on SB40, which passed the Alabama State Senate last week.
SB40, if enacted, will prohibit local governments from taking action to make it easier and less costly in the future to transition to clean energy, like electric vehicles or solar.
It will add to the costs later when the residential property owner (someone like YOU) decides to add solar or an EV charging station, or otherwise expand electric capacity on the property. It's much more affordable to build in the capacity to expand at the time of construction, rather than retrofitting later.
Here's an example...Rather than adding $25-$100 to the cost of your new home to install an outlet for an electric vehicle charger you may buy in the future, the Alabama legislature would rather that you be forced to do an infrastructure retrofit later and pay an extra $500 - $1,000!
