Oh hi! A customer recently left a review blaming our potting mix for plant damage because a sprout appeared…a year after their repotting.

Here’s what’s actually going on.

Organic soil is made from natural materials, so you may occasionally see seeds sprout. That’s normal and it’s not harmful to your plant. We don’t add acorns or random seeds to our mixes. After 5 years of repotting thousands of plants, this has not been an issue.

These seedlings are not parasites. They don’t damage roots and they don’t cause plant death. When a plant declines, it’s almost always due to watering, light, or environmental changes. Not a small sprout.

If something seems off, reach out. We’re happy to help you figure it out. We can’t fix what we don’t know about.
