What if a model home felt less builder basic… and more intentionally designed from the moment buyers walked in? ✨

Annie recently partnered with a developer and builder on thoughtful updates for a model home in a new townhome community in Chapel Hill through Spotted Interior Design’s Designer for a Day service.

This focused 3-hour session is designed to bring a fresh perspective, elevated design direction, and marketable improvements without the commitment of full-service design.

After walking the home, taking photos, reviewing finishes, and identifying opportunities for improvement, Annie created a full recommendation report complete with updated selections, styling suggestions, sustainability-focused ideas, lighting recommendations, storage solutions, and a new kitchen rendering designed to elevate the overall experience of the space.

The project explored ways to make the home feel more custom, memorable, and functional for future buyers through details like Café appliances, an induction range, upgraded finishes, and thoughtful design moments that help a property stand out in today’s market.

Most screened porches feel like an afterthought. This one feels like the best room in the house.

When our clients wanted a screened porch that actually felt connected to the rest of their home, every detail mattered. The accordion glass doors create seamless indoor-outdoor living, making the entire first floor flow beautifully together.

Spotted Interior Design is back with a returning client, and honestly, that’s one of the greatest compliments in design.

This next phase of the home focuses on three spaces that may be smaller in scale, but are going to make a huge impact in everyday living.

First up: the laundry room. We wanted this space to feel elevated, functional, and calming instead of purely utilitarian. Stardew walls paired with Natural Choice cabinetry keep the room bright and timeless, while warm brass hardware and layered marble-inspired finishes add a custom, high-end feel. The goal was to create a space that makes daily routines feel just a little more beautiful.

Next, the powder room. This space is getting the boldest personality of the three. Rich, moody tones paired with statement wallpaper, classic marble, and polished brass details create a dramatic jewel-box moment for guests. Powder rooms are one of our favorite places to take design risks because they can leave such a memorable impression while still feeling timeless and refined.

Finally, the pantry. We leaned into a tailored, custom look with Greek Villa walls, Hale Navy cabinetry, and warm stained wood shelving designed to coordinate with the existing wet bar wall for a cohesive flow throughout the home. Details like the French Ogee countertop profile bring in a more traditional, elevated touch that instantly makes the space feel custom and intentional rather than purely functional.
