Blackwell & Jennings - Health and Wellness Interior Design

Blackwell & Jennings - Health and Wellness Interior Design Commercial Design I was destined to be a designer. Since a very young age I knew DESIGN was my true passion. Contact me and let’s get started.

Often referred to as a merchandiser, I've been designing clothing, creating accessories, and curating interiors for 20 years. My intuitive eye for lifestyle products is exactly what you (or your client) needs. In the early years of my fashion studies I lived in London and landed my first job as a window merchandiser with the historic department store, Liberty of London. My time in London continues

to inspire me; I learned fashion illustration from the iconic illustrator Diana Hughes, visited museums daily, and traveled throughout Europe honing my shopping and design skills. I spent my early career in New York City designing women's contemporary apparel. As a Parson's School of Design graduate I learned from the best attending school with some of the most talented fashion and interior designers in the county. I spent my days shopping at Bergdorf's, Bendel's and Barney's, sketching fashion coquis with a view of the Chrysler building from my 33rd floor office. I helped launch the successful clothing lines Ruby Rd. and Hearts of Palm, which were sold in top department stores across the U.S. While working full time as a designer in my spare time I created a fashion line from my Brooklyn apartment that would eventually be sold by Nepenthes boutiques in Japan. It was a dream come true, but new opportunities and family brought me back Stateside. From NYC I moved to DC and began designing home furnishings, including top-of-the-bed designs as well as home accessories with the elegant Legacy Home line. I've had the opportunity to visit High Point Market and work with textile designers to choose and design one of a kind home furnishing fabrics. In 2005, I relocated to North Carolina, a major fashion manufacturing and textile hub. I landed a Design Director position with Soffe Branded Sporting Goods. I designed mainstream women's and men’s apparel brands sold in all market segments including Strategic Sporting Goods, Department Store, catalog and boutique. I was known in the industry for my keen eye and designed trend-right best sellers. At Soffe, I perfected "the pitch”; reps would deploy me to their key accounts to present new seasonal lines including marketing updates, line overhauls, color intelligence, and special make up design requests. It was a high profile "soup to nuts," operation, and I handled the fashion presentations with panache. Following my time at Soffe I transitioned into footwear and accessories design with Implus in Durham, NC. With Implus, I sharpened my technical design and trend analysis skills. I founded Blackwell & Jennings in 2016 when I knew if was time to get back to my creative roots. Working with people is one of my mediums — as is screenprint, paint, 3D product including furniture and apparel. My studio’s goal is to provide excellent product management in all facets of the design process. My renewed focus in home styling, brand building and visual art is only the beginning. I recently finished a project with Planned Parenthood, updating the patient hub and recovery spaces with a modern and functional design aesthetic. I bring passion, an open mind, and a tireless work ethic to design.

Something new is taking shape.

I’m getting ready to launch Heather Jennings Lifestyle. A new home for my work that brings together my art, commercial design practice, writing, and the ways I weave wellness into the spaces and moments that hold us.

It’s being built slowly and intentionally, and my hope is that it becomes a place you return to for inspiration, grounding, and creative connection as the season unfolds.

More soon 🤍

Creating spaces where women feel safe, supported, and fully seen - especially in a world that hasn’t always protected us- is the whole point. Wellness isn’t just pretty interiors… it’s reclaiming comfort, dignity, and agency.

A lot of systems have failed women over the years. So we build our own.
Spaces that honor us.
Spaces that don’t look away.
Spaces that say: you’re safe here.

It’s the reason I’m so committed to designing spaces that actually protect the nervous system.

Kindness can live in the spaces we create. It’s in the light that softens a room, the textures that
comfort the senses, the way a home holds us. Today is World Kindness Day, and I’m honoring
the small choices that make spaces feel safe and whole.

There’s something special about capturing a moment as it happens. Live drawings are personal keepsakes that turn gatherings into something unforgettable. If you’re planning a holiday party or winter celebration, I’d love to bring this art form to your event.

Remember when Instagram was just a place to look at beautiful photos? This is one of those. Three perfectly framed pictures. Three guest chairs. A quiet little waiting room moment designed to make people feel safe and seen.

One of my sketches from last fall — she’s taking off her mask, and I still love that black lace top. Total Halloween vibes. 🕸️✨

Everyone be safe out there tonight. I’ll post my costume soon — I’m painting it right now. I'm going as California sober. 😉🎃

This is my sketch, and AI made the video.

A little reminder that my art is available at — one of my favorite local spots for gently-worn designer resale. The best selection of dresses, Golden Goose, and all the clothes a fashionable Raleigh girl could want. 👜

Stop by and see the art in person .. it fits right in.

This sketch was inspired by pattern mixing .. because fashion continues to influence everything I do, from interiors to art to how I move through life. Getting dressed, even on a rainy day, makes you feel alive.

Adornment is such an innate human experience. My astrologer always says, “Adornment is you pleasing the goddess.” You’re dressing up, making yourself feel good, and in that moment, you’re honoring her. I love that. 💄

As Uranus the planet of electricity moves back into my sign of Ta**us, I'm reminded of one of my favorite spaces I designed.

Lime green bouncing off soft light, curved edges, this is a color story that feels like an awakening. 🌩️

I’m always chasing that quiet moment when a space shifts your mood, when everything feels calm, open, and human. This waiting room reminds me healing doesn’t have to be sterile; it can be electric, modern, and alive. ⚡

As I’ve shared with you before, my takeaway from my trip to India last year was to design a tarot deck, and this is my first stab at it.

Today in my studio, I stopped trying to plan and just started painting. I’ve always been drawn to so many different styles, but I think the best thing I can do is move fast and trust my instincts. I painted five archetypes — The High Priestess, The Devil, The Fool, The Magician, and The Hermit — each carrying their own energy and symbolism.

They all came through with the same neon pink background, which feels more and more like my essence. This color was definitely present for me in a past life. It’s bold and feminine, spiritual and electric — like the pulse of right now, the zeitgeist 🦩

The High Priestess feels intuitive and mysterious, The Devil powerful and rebellious, The Fool curious and open, The Magician intentional and alive, and The Hermit quiet and knowing. Together they form the first heartbeat of what I think this deck will become.

This feels like the beginning of something I’ve been meant to make for a long time — a tarot deck that looks like my fashion illustrations 💭
