Our June Plant of the Month: Mandevilla

Bold, beautiful, and made for summer, our June Plant of the Month is the ever-popular Mandevilla—a flowering vine that brings instant vacation vibes wherever it grows. Hand-selected by Isabelle and styled with signature English Garden flair, each plant is nestled in a keepsake container and finished with natural moss accents.

Available in a cheerful mix of colors, including shades of pink, red, and white, mandevilla is prized for its glossy green foliage and trumpet-shaped blooms that flower continuously throughout the warm months. Whether displayed on a porch, patio, balcony, or sunny garden space, this tropical beauty delivers months of color with minimal fuss.

**Care Tips**

* Loves full sun (6+ hours daily)
* Water when the top inch of soil feels dry
* Enjoys warm temperatures and humidity
* Fertilize every 2–4 weeks during the growing season for best blooming
* Can be trained to climb a trellis or allowed to trail from a container

While often grown as an annual in our area, mandevilla can be overwintered indoors in a bright location if you'd like to enjoy it again next season.

**Pet Friendly?**
No. Mandevilla is considered mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested and may cause stomach upset. We recommend placing it out of reach of curious pets.

Bright, easy-going, and bursting with summer color, mandevilla is the perfect way to bring a little sunshine home.

When we are doing a website refresh and resetting for a season sometimes we discover old flower friends, bouquets that we have had around for awhile. They don’t always make the front page or the email blast but they are beautiful and classic. We can remember the first day we designed them. Like Bedazzled. Here’s the story. Gene had a custom design order to make a big beautiful arrangment but with a caveat. The customer wanted a bow almost as big as the arrangement tied on the vase. He wanted his wife to be bedazzled by the flowers (his exact words) and then to be “bow”-dazzled (also his exact words) because she loved bows. Making bows for each season was one of her favorite things. Gene created the bouquet and the bow and the combination was equally bedazzling and bowdazzling. Then Gene had one of his “Eureka!” moments that have rendered such classics as Eat Up with Sweet and Little Bit Country-we need a Bedazzled bouquet! And he created this stunner!

We do some seasonal variations but this is the OG. It’s a true Gene palette-warm, rich, inviting colors that speak as equally to a summer sunset as they do to a crisp fall day. Bedazzled is still bedazzling us many years later. And we can say the same about Gene!

🌸Electric Garden Bloomaloo🌸
A joyful collision of color, texture, and flower-powered fun, Electric Garden Bloomaloo feels like sunshine with the volume turned all the way up. Vibrant gerberas, playful craspedia, airy larkspur, sculptural snapdragons, campanula, and other blooms of the season mingle in a free-spirited composition filled with unexpected pops and colorful treasures from our ever-changing cooler.

Designed in a keepsake ceramic vase from our friends at Abbott Design, this arrangement strikes that sweet spot between flower child whimsy and modern floral artistry. Marcela layered bold color, airy movement, and playful texture throughout the design, creating something that feels painterly, expressive, and just a little groovy in the best possible way.

Perfect for birthdays, celebrations, thank-yous, summer parties, or simply sending someone a little extra joy “just because.” Flower varieties and colors may vary slightly with the season, but the overall vibe will always remain colorful, artistic, and delightfully electric. Available for same-day delivery in Raleigh and throughout the Triangle by your favorite family flower shop, The English Garden.

There’s a little pocket of time between Mother’s Day and school letting out when you realize the clock is ticking toward summer.

It’s when the air starts to get that sticky-sweet heaviness that even a cold lemonade can’t quite conquer. When the first roadside peach stand pops up and the last pick-your-own strawberry signs come down. When a mosquito wakes you in the middle of the night with its buzzy serenade and you swat it away like a bad dream. When the signs at the local parks quietly change from closing at sunset to closing at 8 or 9 pm.

And in the flower business? It’s when the first local sunflowers and glorious garden blooms—yarrow, cosmos, all those sunshine-soaked beauties—start making their way into the shop.

This week, I opened our availability lists from Stemz and Piedmont and there they were: a wave of golden blooms that made it official. Summer is sneaking right up on us.

I don’t count summer days quite the same way now. Vivienne is nearly out of college, and squeezing every possible drop out of June, July, and August like I am running a lemonade stand doesn’t feel quite as urgent as it once did. But summer has always been my season, and I still plan to wring every bit of joy I can from these long, golden days.

We created this arrangement a couple of seasons ago around some of our favorite things—sunflowers, succulents, roses, yarrow, all in those rich, warm, golden colors.

We call it Before Sunrise or Sunset. Yes, partly because I’m more than a little in love with Richard Linklater films. But also because those two moments of the day always feel like nature showing off—magical brushstrokes of color that make you stop, breathe, and pay attention.

We ought to do that every day.

But summer especially reminds us to.

Because there are so many adventures waiting in between those sunrises and sunsets.

With or without the lemonade. With or without the bug spray.

A signature in the making—Anthurium No 1 by Marcela reads like a fragrance: layered, evocative, and unmistakably modern. Anchored by striking anthurium (always the focal point), this design unfolds in a refined palette of pink, peach, green, and white—an ongoing composition that shifts with the seasons while staying true to its essence.

Sourced from our friends at Greenpoint Nursery in Hilo, Hawaii, the tropical elements bring sculptural form and quiet drama, balanced by seasonal blooms that soften and elevate the mix. No two are exactly alike—colors and varieties will evolve throughout the year—but the feeling remains consistent: polished, expressive, and beautifully intentional.

Designed in a modern, eclectic keepsake vase from Sagebrook Home, Anthurium No 1 is equal parts object and arrangement—perfect for celebrating Mom with something truly distinctive, while effortlessly fitting birthdays, milestones, or an elevated everyday moment.

Available for same-day delivery in Raleigh and the Triangle when ordered by 3 pm. Designed and delivered with care by your favorite family flower shop, The English Garden.

Never underestimate the power of a small, beautiful gesture.

A surprise bouquet on an ordinary Tuesday. A thank-you that lands exactly when it’s needed. A little color on someone’s kitchen counter that somehow changes the whole mood of the week.

That’s our Butterfly Effect bouquet.

Marcela designed this joyful arrangement as a celebration of the idea that even the smallest act of kindness can create something unexpectedly beautiful. A simple gesture becomes a smile. A smile becomes comfort. Encouragement. Connection. Celebration.

A playful mix of vivid cobalt blue, juicy orange, soft peach, fresh greens, and airy seasonal textures gives this design its unmistakable color pop—artful, happy, and just a little unexpected in the very best way.

Arranged in the keepsake Danish Butterfly vase from Blue Sky Clayworks, this piece brings equal parts whimsy and modern garden charm. Marcela’s designs have a wonderful way of feeling polished without ever feeling fussy—full of movement, personality, and joy.

As with all the best things in nature, blooms may shift with the season and what’s looking especially gorgeous in our cooler, but the spirit, palette, and playful movement of this design will remain beautifully intact.

Perfect for birthdays, celebrations, encouragement, thank-yous, or simply because someone deserves a reminder that small things can have extraordinary impact.

Available for same-day delivery in Raleigh and throughout the Triangle by the EG Crew if ordered by 3pm.

To every amazing mom we had the honor of celebrating this Mother’s Day—thank you for letting us be a small part of your family’s big love stories. 💐💕

And to the incredible moms on our own team—the women who pour so much care, creativity, hustle, and heart into this business every single day—we celebrate you, too.

This Mother’s Day week was a beautiful whirlwind: thousands of stems, joyful deliveries, off-site flower bars, classes (including a very special collaboration with the Frankie Lemmon School 💛), two weddings, a bat mitzvah, celebrations of life, graduation parties, and a fabulous gala for one of our favorite nonprofits.

Today, our doors were closed so our team could do what this holiday is really about—spending time with the people they love most.

We’re tired in the very best way. Grateful beyond words. And endlessly thankful to this community for choosing our family flower shop to help mark life’s biggest moments.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at The English Garden. 🌸
