I was working on new designs for Plaza Interiors when my little “curtain climber,” Yoshi, decided to help. He jumped up on my workbench — I’m pretty sure he was hunting for snacks, not offering design advice!

I can’t get enough red glass when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Clear, matte, crystal, shiny, metallic—if it’s red, I want it.

My favorite, though, is clear red glass with candles. Given the choice, I’ll always lean toward real candlelight, but battery-operated lights and votives, now available in so many styles, offer solutions that aren't possible with real candles, and are safe for vintage and antique glass that may not be heat-tolerant.

I drop wire lights or votives into nearly all of my red glass, of which I have quite the collection after 45 years of collecting, and suddenly it's singing Christmas. 🎶✨
