For Sale: Antique Miniature Dome-Top Trunk (ca 1880 to 1900)

These miniature dome-top drunks are also frequently referred to as a doll trunk, toy box, or salesman's sample trunk. It features crystal-patterned embossed metal banding and a wood-slat body covered in antique paper. This trunk dates to the late Victorian era, specifically between 1880 and 1900. Trunks of this style with detailed, lithographed, or had stamped metal pattern bands, and curved dome tops were highly popular in the late 19th century. This trunk is in good antique condition and has the internal compartments. It has heavy surface scratching, a missing side handle and missing latch. It is unusual to find the interior with its original paper lithograph lining, and removable wooden tray. It measures 16 inches wide by 9 3/4 inches, and it is about 11 1/2 inches tall. These antique trunks came in many different sizes from very small to rather large in size. I would say this is more of a middle size trunk. I have seen these open with antique teddy bears or antiques dolls displayed in them.

For Sale: Antique Wooden Oval Dough Bowl (21" long)

These wooden dough bowls were also historically referred to as a "trencher". Traditionally hand-turned or hand carved from a single large piece of hardwood (often maple, birch or poplar). These utilitarian bowls feature an elongated, shallow oval shape designed specifically for kitchen labor such as bread making. Today, they are highly sought after decorative accents. They are widely used as rustic dining table centerpieces, mantel decor or functional counter vessels for holding fresh fruit, or collectibles. This bowl is in very good antique condition with no splits or damage to the wood. It has developed a nice patina from use and age. It measures 21 inches long by 11 inches wide. (SOLD): Vintage Italian Alabaster Stone Cherries

This set of stone cherries features hand-wrapped, twisted metal wire stems. They are hand-carved and hand-painted. Cherries are rather difficult to find. Also as a side note, to determine if stone fruit is really old alabaster place the fruit against your cheek, and it should feel cold. These cherries are in very good condition, and the minor paint nicks are completely normal for their age. There are no chips in the alabaster. They measure nearly 3 inches tall to the top of the stem, and are about 2 1/2 inches wide. Each cherry is about 1 inch in diameter. These cherries would be a nice addition to any stone fruit collection.

For Sale: Antique Apothecary or Pharmacy Jar (ca 1880-1920)

This wonderful old antique apothecary or pharmacy jar has "seed bubbles" or "air bubbles" in the glass. This indicates that the glass was hand-blown or molded during a period when production ovens couldn't reach temperatures high enough to fully refine the molten glass and eliminate trapped gases. The frosted ground texture on both the inner neck of the jar and the solid ball stopper was meticulously engineered to create an airtight seal. This prevented moisture, air and evaporation from contaminating the chemicals, powdered medicines, or herbs stored in side pharmacies. Jars like this are highly collectible for kitchen displays, bathroom storage or general primitive decor. This jar is in very good antique condition, but does have one chip on the ground portion of the lid. The jar measures 11 3/4 inches tall and has a diameter of nearly 5 inches. It is a really nice jar and is very heavy.

For Sale: Vintage Shaker-Style Bentwood Dipper or Piggin Scoop

This very nice wooden dipper was traditionally used as a kitchen tool for measuring and scooping dry goods like grain, flour, or sugar, or as a water dipper. It features a characteristic bentwood cylindrical bowl joined at the seam with small copper tacks, and is paired with a long, turned wooden handle. It is stamped on the bottom but I am unable to read it. It is in very good vintage condition, with some wear and marks on the inside. It measures approximately 12 1/2 inches from the edge of the bowl to the end of the handle. The bowl has a diameter of 7 inches and the bowl is 4 1/2 inches tall. This is an antique Canadian checkers (Draughts) game board. It is typical of late 19th to early 20th-century folk art and is from Quebec. Unlike standard American checkerboards, it has a larger 12 x 12 grid with 144 squares were used. For Sale: Vintage Dobbs Fifth Avenue Miniature Hat and Matching Octagonal Presentation Box

While these are frequently labeled as "salesman samples," they were primarily manufactured as gift certificate novelties popular from the 1930's through the 1950's. Because choosing a hat's exact style, color and head size made it difficult to give as a surprise. Haberdashers like Dobbs and Stetson of New York created these miniature sets. They made charming gifts on Christmas or birthdays. This hat and octagonal hat box are in very good condition, with the only flaw being one of the edges of the lid of the box is loose on the seams. Otherwise the box is in great condition and the hat is perfect. The hat is 3 1/4 inches long by 3 inches and is 1 1/4 inches tall. The box is 3 3/4 inches wide by 4 1/4 inches and 2 3/4 inches tall.

(SOLD): Antique Primitive Cricket Stool (ca 1880 to 1930)

These little stools were also referred to as wood milking stools or a footstool. It features a rustic, hand-hewn plank seat and four square-cut, heavily splayed legs driven through the top using classic wedge or mortise-and-tenon construction. The simple utilitarian geometry, hand-cut angles and thick slab seat are highly indicative of standard late 1800's to early-1900's rural folk craftsmanship. It has a beautiful deep patina, and surface wear that suggest it has spent generations as a functional farm tool or household step. It is in very good antique condition and is very solid. It shows the wear and patina from many years of use. It measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/4 inches at the bottom of the legs and it is about 9 1/2 inches tall. It is a wonderful old stool!
