Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into a professional low-voltage prewire!

On one of our recent custom home projects, we installed:

🌐 4,500 feet of Cat6 network cable

🔊 2,500 feet of 14/2 speaker wire

📡 750 feet of RG6 coaxial cable

📏 TOTAL: 7,750 FEET OF WIRING!

That’s nearly 1.5 MILES of cable in a single home! 🤯

And that’s just the low-voltage wiring — not including the electrical!

All this wiring supports high-speed networking, whole-home audio, home theater, television distribution, and future smart home technology.

Once the drywall goes up, most of this work disappears from sight. But what’s behind those walls makes all the difference.

📺📶 What Started as a Simple TV Installation Turned Into a Whole-Home Wi-Fi Upgrade!

Another great day at Audio Video Alternatives!

We were called out to install a new 43-inch Samsung TV in a customer’s home gym. We’ve had the privilege of servicing this family for nearly 10 years, dating back to when they first moved to the area!

While onsite, we discovered their home network was still relying on an aging router, older networking equipment, and multiple Wi-Fi extenders.

After checking the existing connection, we knew we could make a big improvement.

Fortunately, we had the equipment available in our service truck!

✅ Installed and mounted the new Samsung TV

✅ Replaced the outdated networking setup with a modern eero Wi-Fi system

✅ Simplified the home’s network configuration

✅ Improved the reported internet speed dramatically!

📉 BEFORE: 3.28 Mbps download

🚀 AFTER: 600 Mbps download

That’s over 180 times the reported download speed!

Another upgrade from the same beautiful home we recently featured!

This time, we’re taking a look at what’s behind the walls.

We replaced the home’s existing in-wall subwoofer with a Paradigm SFC12-SW architectural subwoofer, bringing premium bass performance into the living space without sacrificing its clean, modern design.

This wasn’t simply swapping one speaker for another. The upgrade required modifying the existing wall opening, preparing the mounting location, and carefully integrating the new subwoofer.

The result? A clean, nearly invisible installation designed to deliver serious low-frequency performance!
