We rarely call these rituals, but they're how we tell the people we love that they belong to us and we'll keep watching for them. The tree that took forty minutes to pick is the one we still laugh about. Our favorite part of the tradition was never the tree itself. It was the cold fingers, the friendly arguing, and the ride home with the evergreen strapped to the roof.
