🌱 Looking to prepare your lawn for winter? Now’s the time to apply your fall blend fertilizer, typically 21-7-14. 🌱

With the summer heat behind us, cool season grasses are in their active growing period and will be storing the extra energy for the winter.

If your grass is especially long, now’s the time to start incrementally reducing height. No more than 1/3rd of the blade height to avoid stressing your lawn.

Next up on our list of days you don’t hear about often: September 28th is known as Good Neighbor Day!

Created in the 1970’s by Becky Mattson from Lakeside, Montana, it became a national holiday under President Jimmy Carter in 1978.

It’s a day to recognize our community, and connecting with those we live near through small acts of kindness and connection. Some ideas include:
• Mowing an elderly neighbor’s yard, or a family with young children.
• Offering to help with yard-work or bringing in trash cans.
• Hosting a neighborhood barbecue or block party

Ever wonder why decomposed granite, or DG as it is often called, is such a popular application for yards?

Decomposed granite is made of weathered down, pulverized granite rock. It’s inexpensive and natural looking, Designers frequently use it to create a natural appearance for walkways and driveways. It allows water to pass through to the ground, and is even great as a ground cover for drought-tolerant plants if you’re xeriscaping.
