This morning, my usual coffee spot looked a little different.

The rain came down so hard that my peaceful little patio turned into a temporary pond. No coffee outside. No watching the birds. No quiet start to the day.

As I stood there watching the storm, this thought came to mind:

“Stop trying to calm the storm. Calm yourself. The storm will pass.”

I’m learning that lesson applies to so much more than the weather.

Life brings unexpected downpours. Plans change. Things don’t go the way we hoped. And sometimes the best thing we can do isn’t fight the storm—it’s trust that it won’t last forever.

So today, I’m embracing a slower start (indoors), enjoying the sound of the rain, and waiting for the sunshine to return.

After all, the birds will be back at The Lonesome Dove Diner soon enough. ☕🌧️🐦
